• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Latest BRP Safety Bulletins for Shaft Replacement (2019-12) and Shaft & Sprocket Replacement (2019-13) Recalls - Jan 2025

So my dealership called and told me that my parts were in for this repair. They told me that they are doing a complete oil change and coolant change as part of the repair. What I forgot to ask was will there be a warranty for this repair. I am almost scared to do it since my bike is working perfectly fine. But with only having 2K miles before I cannot get the repair done, my wife feels like I need to go ahead and get it done. I mean, it is possible it breaks at 40K or 45K, and then I am screwed.
 
I have two 2018's that I do full throttle shifts on a lot of the time. Vroom Vroom! One has 15K and the other 24K. The 15K miles one is at the dealer now for the recall and the other is scheduled for May 27th, when I get back to Washington where it is located. Note: In most cases you cannot sell or a dealer cannot sell a vehicle with an outstanding recall.
 
I haven't changed mine as of yet, but I think the filter is on the right hand side. Same side as where you check your oil level.

Just brought mine home today. was pleasantly surprised the HCM filter was included because although I only have 20k on mine I wanted it changed when it was in the shop. I asked for air filter and spark plugs changed. Flat rate was 3.6 hours, but they only charged me 1 hour because the engine was out. They did say the 8.4 hours for the recall was tough to meet. The coolant is pricey and I'm glad that was included.
 
When is BRP going to do the right thing and be consistent when it comes to recalls. Some are replacing oil and HCM filters, some are not. Some are replacing antifreeze, and some aren't. This is driving me nuts, as dealers don't know what to change and what not to change. Some dealers are ordering parts ahead of getting the bike into the shop, and some dealers say they need the bike in their shop before they can order parts. I have never seen so much confusion in my life.
 
Here's my situation: according to my dealer's service manager, I was the first Spyder owner to ask about the recall. He immediately ordered up the kit. In this recall, I specifically asked the service manager, who pays for coolant, oil, and engine filter? His reply was BRP. The tech asked me if I wanted new spark plugs. Of course my answer was: yes. Since I was having a clutch problem (a slight slip upon take off in first gear), which turned out to be a broken spring in the clutch pack (the gold magnetic transmission drain plug caught all the tiny metal pieces/particles) that required a new clutch pack, that labor was only a half hour more, as the engine was out. Even though I'm paying out some money for things other than the recall requirements, I think it's a good deal overall. YAY recall!?! I felt that the tech working on my Spyder provided me with good, solid, useful suggestions and kept me appraised of what he found via a phone call. No confusion here in Fargo N.D.

I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary while riding it, so I feel a bit suspect about it. But they also told me that if they don't replace it, when it goes out, will be 12 hours of labor. They will only charge me 1 hour of labor since it is already torn down. I felt like I had no choice, so I agreed to the repair. Sigh. It is always something.

That is exactly the sign of a good dealership. We strived to provide that quality of service since I bought our dealership back in the early 70's. Paid off in the long run as we went from one of the smallest dealers in our area to one of the largest of our brand world wide.

That bearing is a vital part. Good that your dealer informed you the situation and of the labor differences. Since you brought it up acdc, looking at my Output Shaft kit photo, I've wondered why the bearing you talk about (that the shaft runs on) wasn't part of the kit to begin with.

What are they charging you per hour for labor? $463.00 seems a little high for 1 hour labor and the bearing. I'd be questioning the price of the bearing.

Something like $260 for the bearing. I assume the rest is labor. Not like I have a choice. Again, they have me over a barrel.
