I updated OTA software/firmware on my 2024 S2S - anyone else seen the back-up camera option?

So I finally decided to allow my 2024 S2S Spyder to update itself OTA. I thought the software was the 3.1.0 version already on the bike. But once I connected the WIFI to the bike (which was easy for me) it indicated it needed to update using the 3.1.0 software firmware. There were 2 things of interest to me: an updated fuel consumption gauge; and the back up camera, as the package said it contained that too.

So I started the bike first and then started the update. It first downloaded a loader(?) then several files. The screen showed several names on the files (one being the loader and another the installer?) then it loaded up more files, including screen firmware and config files. I swear one also said engine config? One of the files was "TADA" back up camera config. So it took about 20 mins with the bike running... one of the screens it showed during the final stages was the backup camera screen and parking lines on a black background.

Once everything was completed, I stopped the bike and then powered on/off. No issues re-booting. Once started, the fuel consumption gauge is shown in the place of the electrical-voltage gauge in the middle of the screen. It is a round dial type 300 degree face. Sliding my finger sideways allowed the voltage gauge to show and vice versa.

There is no back up camera on the 2024 S2S, so when I put the bike into reverse with the PB off, the screen did nothing. But since it installed the software/firmware, it "should be" ready? Some other posters on the back up camera thread indicate it is a option on the 2025 (but not yet available). I have also seen postings regarding a 3 pin empty connector on the 2024 S2S, so maybe it could be installed given the correct wiring. Here is hoping .

Has anyone else seen this? I would hope the camera is not a proprietary video format and is a normal type connector running off 12v or at least 5v to the camera. I can envision a plug in switch on the center dash board that allows switching to a front camera or rear camera along with a USB drive to record to. No more Gopro then!

Yep, I saw that... it fits into a recess under the rear lip on the 2025. You would have to fabricate a mount on the previous models. How hard can that possibly be? A spacer of the right dimensions (maybe 3D printed?) plus 3M tape and SS screws, then run the wires thru the rear case. The real issue is where to actually connect it to the bike so that it sends video back to the ECU when the bike is shifted into reverse. Can anyone show pics of the 3 pin plug where it might connect to, as mentioned by other posters? A Pinout would be great too.

For those who are interested, here is a link to the 2025 installation procedure. Note that the actual plugin is way under all the rear seat and rear seat bracketry after removal of the top case and LinQ stuff. The camera kit comes with the harness to plug into that existing harness plug on the 2025 bike.


Can someone familiar with the 2024's and the area under the seat and top case, have a look and trace the on-bike wiring harness to see if it traces back to the cluster? One of the camera wires should be a video type cable (most likely an shielded RCA type but with a different connector).

I have a feeling it just might go back to the cluster, making the 2025 camera possibly compatible with the 2024's.

@jzeiler that looks like a three wire plug. Def not a RCA video type but - Aside: I note the black plastic housing has printed words on it. JPN ST?xxx and HITCH. Never been under there so <dontknow> Looks like you have a different plug in to the hitch harness too?

Are you gonna order the backup camera when it is available? If you do. please post the install.

Just a quick update... since I did the OTA update...when the bike goes into reverse, a blank backup image shows up on the cluster screen with backup guidelines... everytime I go into reverse..now I just wait for BRP to issue the wiring harness and BUP camera for the 2024.

so for the doubters..at least for my 2024 S2S the cluster is ready...we just need the camera, wiring harness (es) and instructions

I will be checking with my dealer to see if the 2025 rear panel fits the 2024. If so and it is orderable in the right color, then I might just start this mess IF the wiring harness plug in exists on my 24 S2S.
I use our new V nose 24foot enclosed trailer to transport both Spyders and backing in will be much easier with a backup cam

Maybe it is a Sea to Sky thing. I have a 2024 RT-L. Or, maybe it is because my January 2024 production date is before they started integrating that technology. I was going to open up the back end to look for that connector, but I now have doubts that it even is there on my RT-L.

Maybe check under options to enable that? I did nothing when I updated, but TBH, my dealer updated the bike (so I'm told) back in October-ish... Dunno if I believe that, as I only updated it BECAUSE the bike indicated there was an update waiting. I do remember checking to do all the updates, so...
