• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Yeah, it's always been this way on this bike. The last time I did it, it only took one or two tries and I thought - "I've got this down now!", only to be humbled again this time.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

I've done a few things over the last month. In preparation for my big ride to North Carolina (see Ride Reports), I did a fresh oil and filter change, adjusted the drive belt and checked everywhere I could for any potential problems. After I came home from the ride, found out that my cheap Nofomo...

Madstad out of business - Sept 2025

FYI I went online to see if I could buy some replacement mounting hardware (the rubber well nuts) for my Madstad windshield. Found out that they closed their doors back in September. I found what I think are the right pieces on Amazon. When they come in tomorrow I'll see if they're correct...

    Introducing myself and my 'Batmobile'.

When I was researching the purchase of my 2020 F3S, I read all the bad reports regarding the rear shock. So I factored in getting an Elka shock as part of the total cost of getting the bike. At the time, I weighed about 215 lbs and my wife is about 140. We were bottoming out on the stock...

Can Am Spyders Resale value isn't great...

I tend to buy a toy and keep it forever, so I'm not concerned about any resale or trade-in value. I bought my Spyder new in 2020. At the time a used F3 was only maybe $1500 less than the new one, but the new one had better features that I wanted, plus 3 yrs warranty. So it made sense (in my...

Oh yes, I need to make a major update to my States ridden map.

Nov 2025 Bucket list trip to North Carolina and back, over 2400 miles.

Saturday Nov 8. We had to decide whether or not to try to get home from Front Royal in one day or split it into two. The weather forecast was for rain coming in Sunday morning and we wanted to get ahead of that. But we didn't want to have to drive the last hour or two home in the dark Saturday...

Nov 2025 Bucket list trip to North Carolina and back, over 2400 miles.

Thursday Nov 6. Time to start the ride back home. We weren't going to push hard to get home in two days. We wanted to enjoy taking in as much of the Blue Ridge Parkway and then the Skyline Drive in Virginia as possible while making our way back North. Our plan was to get to Roanoke, VA area. We...

Nov 2025 Bucket list trip to North Carolina and back, over 2400 miles.

Tuesday Nov 4. The morning was cold and we had ice on our Spyder covers. The hotel has a container with towels to wipe the bikes. We planned to make this an easier day, after two very long days of riding. We did a section of the Blue Ridge Parkway South of Maggie Valley. This section is over...

Nov 2025 Bucket list trip to North Carolina and back, over 2400 miles.

A little backstory first - last year a group of 4 of us Spyder ryders spent 4 days in Vermont and NH and we had a great time riding together and found that we were quite compatible. So for this year, I asked the guys to reserve the first week of November for another group trip. Three of us are...

Any advice on 'better than stock' F3 heated grips?

You can do what I did. I added snowmobile heated grip elements over the stock grips and use bicycle handlebar tape over them. I bit of a project to get the wiring right, and the right high power switch for them, but they work great. Or, I would suggest just getting heated gloves.

Hope I'm not done riding my Spyder for the year?!

I've been riding snowmobiles for many years. When I got the Spyder in 2020, I figured if I can ride the snowmobile in -15° F without heated gear, I can ride the Spyder in cold weather as well. Riding a snowmobile is much more physically active than the Spyder, and I quickly found that heated...

What did you do to your Spyder today?

I have the same jacket, and my wife has the ladies equivalent. We were out for a ryde yesterday, stopped at a pub for a late lunch. Our waitress gave us compliments on our great looking jackets!

CarPlay Froze, then entire Head Unit Froze Up While Riding, then supposedly updated and rebooted on the Highway - Anyone else had this happen?

I have a Carpuride Carplay device I use with my F3S. Nothing is connected to the bike at all, just my phone and Sena headset. I also occasionally get freezing up, or not reconnecting after powering down and back up. It usually reconnects after one or two restarts. So I think the problem that...
