• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Any time limit on changing HCM filter during oil change? Is a 10 y/o filter good for a few more years?

That's my photo of the cut apart HCM filter. The filter is usually a part of the 28K mile service. With your mileage, you have a long way to go before it'll need to be changed. As you know, it's a $125 filter.

Does your Saddlebag need to be slammed to latch?

When I lubricate the side-box latches I make it a point of using Dry Lube. That way dust won't stick to the mechanism making things worse.

Is Running Diesel Oil in Your Spyder such a good idea?

That's Can Am's oil change "suggestion" at 9k as we know. Since we ride (mostly two up) usually around up to 4K miles per season, here in NW Minnesota (aka 5 to 6 months per), I'd change oil every 2+ years? NO! So, I go by auto mileage change standards, however pricey it might be. Thanks Mikey...

Is Running Diesel Oil in Your Spyder such a good idea?

Thanks for your input Peter! The oil that is in the Spyder now is the XPS 5w30 blended oil that the tech, and dealer, is required to install after the completion of the Output Shaft Recall. With that in mind, I'll most likely continue with the XPS. I can only surmise as to the ultimate outcome...

Is Running Diesel Oil in Your Spyder such a good idea?

    * In 2019, on my first oil change on my new 2018 F3, I started using Rotella T6. * I used T6 on every oil and filter change (every 3-4K miles) until late last riding season when I detected a slight slip in the clutch when shifting from neutral into first gear. * Total milage on the Spyder at the...

Latest BRP Safety Bulletins for Shaft Replacement (2019-12) and Shaft & Sprocket Replacement (2019-13) Recalls - Jan 2025

I thought I would include a photo of how stripped down my 2018 F3 Limited was during the recall repair. While the engine was out and readily accessible, I requested new spark plugs and fuel filter. I also needed a clutch pack (the broken ring in the photo) which was handy, having the engine...

Using a Gates Krikit Belt Tension gauge, 150 to 160 lbs. with the rear wheel on the ground is optimal. Your dealer tech will, most likely, also set the tension too tight as is spelled out in their shop manual/guide info. The above range has proven, over the years by us DIYers, to be the best...

Has anyone used front wheel 'roll into' chocks on your trailer?

I use a set of MaxxHaul 80077 Standard Motorcycle Wheel Chocks. I only used the chocks themselves not using the rotating cradle or the cross bar. As you can see, the chock's width easily accommodating my F3's front tires. The chocks are bolted to T-nuts on the underside of 1/2" MDO plywood (I...

That bearing is a vital part. Good that your dealer informed you the situation and of the labor differences. Since you brought it up acdc, looking at my Output Shaft kit photo, I've wondered why the bearing you talk about (that the shaft runs on) wasn't part of the kit to begin with.

Latest BRP Safety Bulletins for Shaft Replacement (2019-12) and Shaft & Sprocket Replacement (2019-13) Recalls - Jan 2025

Here's my situation: according to my dealer's service manager, I was the first Spyder owner to ask about the recall. He immediately ordered up the kit. In this recall, I specifically asked the service manager, who pays for coolant, oil, and engine filter? His reply was BRP. The tech asked me if...

That is the HCM (Hydraulic Control Module) Filter for the 1330 engine. Also know simply as the Transmission Filter. A couple of months ago I posted what the internals of the filter look like, as I cut one apart. Here it is again:
