• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

998cc Newbie with 2008 990, stumbling and limp mode

Something interesting. My 2008 GS was having issues over the last year. I had a Can Am Spyder mechanic in Macon Georgia work on it as I was stuck away from home. After a huge chunk of money and no Buds, I rode home to Nashville. It began malfunctioning on the way home. I parked at my...

Prettying up my GS - what products for leather & faded plastic?

My 2008 GS needs some love. I just got a new/used seat. What kind of wax/oil is used to clean and preserve leather? Also, what is used to clean and refinish the black rubber/plastic, like around frunk (has lights)? has really faded due to environment.

Want to Paint/wrap my Spyder - any ideas/options?

I live south of Nashville (Murfreesboro) and would like to paint or wrap my 2008 Can Am Spyder GS SE5. Just looking for possible solutions. Over 14 years, it has many scratches, chips and disolving spills. Another issue is the black matte finishes are fading and dulling. Ideas please. I...

Well, i did replace the drive pulley. (sorry Joerolwing, I did not see your post before ordering). about 7 months ago. Now I need better instructions about aligning. I found instructions in this site, but they did not go into enough detail. I took it apart and removed the axel and totally...

    Need a new drive belt

Is there a known reason why I cannot reverse the front sprocket? I also found that the sprocket was wobbly and ther was a LOT of rubber behind it, ie 1/2 inch or more. Thanks, tntherapy

    Need a new drive belt

Need more help. Got a new belt. It appears that when I had a tire store replace the rear tire, they screwed up the alignment and tension on the belt. The belt then worked it way back on the front sprocket wearing on the motor/tran housing. Not through but creating a bur that ate my...

    Need a new drive belt

I've done a bit of pricing and can't believe that a belt is over $300. Does anybody know of a cheaper option? I was in some gravel/rocks and about 15 miles later the belt threw off while traveling. I will replace myself. Please PM if you have an idea. Thanks, TNTHERAPY

    New Seat, to satisfy passenger

Sorry I did not get back sooner. I thought about an original BRP seat and found 1. But, it would cost $75 to ship from Las Vegas to Nashville. Making it cost prohibitative. What I have is a Corbin that came with it used.

    RS saddles

If it will fit an ST and RS, will it also fit a GS? Are there any that aren't oversized or wide. I'm looking for something narrow, on the cheaper side.

    2008 GS SE5 issues

Thank you to all for help. I did replace: vacuum lines, air breather and filter, Y-exhaust gaskets and cannisterectomy. It seems to have made the backfire more acceptable. Seems to have more oomph. BUT it is much noisier with the AF-1 breather. I am satisfied for now.

    2008 GS SE5 issues

Follow up Chupaca: how do you check the Y gaskets without tools? I did replace the Y gaskets, a year back in an attempt to fix backfire. Did not fix it. Do not know what previous owner did for farkles or maint. Snowbelt Spyder: I have had Erik for just at 2 years and put 15,300 miles on...

    2008 GS SE5 issues

I have a 2008 GS SE5 and cannot afford the dealership's 80-90 per hour. I live near Nashville. Issues: rear squealing, miss/hesitation (rough idle), severe backfire when leaving off throttle. Could any of these be solved by the canisterectomy? (miss/hesitation, severe backfire) Don't...
