• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Why doesn't BRP design a stronger Anti-roll bar?

I was referring to the fact that a three wheeled vehicle of the Spyder type offers no counteracting stability from the rear suspension and much less from the inertial mass than that which a four wheel vehicle does and that this allows the inside front suspension in a turn to raise more than it...

Why doesn't BRP design a stronger Anti-roll bar?

PMK, in describing a "single (front) wheel suspension event" elaborates on the well known negative which is experienced with a stronger anti-roll bar and which I mentioned in an earlier post. He also mentions something which I suspected and had hoped that my 'simple question' would have...

Why doesn't BRP design a stronger Anti-roll bar?

Thank you BajRon. Your point about multi-continent certification is certainly a plausible explanation of why BRP doesn't upgrade it themselves.

Why doesn't BRP design a stronger Anti-roll bar?

In the automobile world it is called an anti-roll bar. This is a much better descriptor since sway and roll are two very different effects. Few vehicles display sway but if they do the anti-roll bar has no effect on it. It does have an effect on the roll which a vehicle experiences whilst...

Why doesn't BRP design a stronger Anti-roll bar?

Thank you to those who replied. My questions is a simple one. I did not ask for the technical explanations I simply wish to know what negatives would be experienced with a stronger anti-roll bar.

Why doesn't BRP design a stronger Anti-roll bar?

I hardly think that installing a slightly thicker steel ani-roll bar is going to beak the bank at BRP. Be that as it may, the point of my question is what are the negatives to installing such a bar?

Why doesn't BRP design a stronger Anti-roll bar?

I have read several favorable comments about the benefits of a stronger anti-roll bar. Assuming that they are correct, why doesn't BRP design in a stronger bar? It can't be cost since the difference for them would be pennies. It must be that there are negatives to such a change. So, what are...

998 Extended Remote Road Trip Oil Change

In 2014 my wife and I made a trip on our 2011 RTS from VA to CA, but taking a random route out and a different one back. We covered 6,998 miles. I changed the oil before leaving using Amsoil with a new filter. We made the whole trip without changing either the oil or the filter. During the...

Castrol power RS racing 4T 10W40 oil

I used the Rotella T6 in our 2011 RTS SM5 for two years and was pleased with it. Then I switched to the Amsoil Metric. My oil use was halved. When we rode across country on a 7,000 mile journey I changed it before we left and again after we arrived home. I was amazed at the cleanliness of...

    Penalized !! For owning a Spyder !!

I have had my Spyder insured by Foremost for four years. The premium is reasonable and there are no special terms (i.e. different than my other two wheelers which are also on the policy) attached to it. I live in Virginia. Alan.

    Limp home mode

Thank you to all who shared their thoughts and experience. I found the problem today. I started by looking at a few simple and obvious possibilities but none of them were faulty. I then began a systematic check using the procedures in the shop manual. I did start with the simplest one, the...

    Limp home mode

Anne: Thank you for your reply. I do have Roger's excellent APP and used it to check the codes before I arrived home, where I have the service manual. When I posted my question I hoped that someone else may have had the peculiar combination of fault codes which I have and could save me some...

    Limp home mode

Thank you for your reply Billy. I did replace the battery with a new Yuasa one a few weeks ago so, on the principle that the last thing you did is probably the cause of your problem, I checked the battery voltage a little time after I parked the bike. It was 12.8 volts. While I was running...

    Limp home mode

Today I was riding our 2011 RTS when it suddenly went into limp home mode. It would run, but at a maximum of 11 MPH. Fortunately, I was near home and managed to get there without being mowed down. I checked the codes and they are P0107, P0122, P1174 and P2228. These codes do not seem to be...
