• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    XPS engine oil

I contacted them as well and received my answer today same as you. Hi Derek, Thanks for the question. You have the correct oil in your kit for your machine. In terms of the literature that recommends prior oil generations, the reason for the recommendation to NOT use SM is that...

    XPS engine oil

That's what I read too, but just wondered about the SM classification.

    XPS engine oil

When I change my oil in about 2000 miles, if I haven't gotten a solid answer from BRP, I'll just get five quarts of a different oil. Cheaper than needing clutch work. Thanks for the input guys.

    XPS engine oil

I just got off the phone with the dealer that I purchased the oil from. I talked to the service department, and the guy said I got the same oil kit that he uses in the Spyders they service. It's just a different bottle and rebranding, but it's the same oil. He said my manual is probably just...

    XPS engine oil

I was surprised too. The box even says the oil will ensure optimum wet clutch operation. Maybe this is "new" oil that BRP modified to work with the SE5. Hate having 4.5 quarts of oil that I can't use. It's part number 779248.

    XPS engine oil

I have a 14 RSS SE5. The manual states to use API SG, SH, SJ, or SL. And not to use API SM because clutch slippage may occur. A couple weeks ago, I ordered an XPS oil change kit on Ebay from a Can Am dealer. Says it's for a Spyder, but the quarts say API SM on the back. Is it safe for the bike...

    Spyder key

That does look really nice. I may go that route. Thank you!

    Blemishes/Oxidation?

Okay thank you. If there's no good quick fix, I might just leave it as is and keep an eye on it. If it starts to get unsightly, then I'll look into new wheels. Just hope it's not damaging the structural integrity of the wheel. Don't need it to become a safety issue.

    Spyder key

    Great! Thanks for the info.

    Spyder key

I'd like to put a key ring through the Spyder key. Is it possible to drill a tiny hole at the top of the key without hitting anything important? I've seen the key covers/holders, but was hoping this would be another solution.

    Blemishes/Oxidation?

I have what appears to be blemishes/oxidation on the front wheels of my 14 RSS. They are under the clearcoat, as you can't feel them at all. Any advice to get rid of them? What causes it?

    Gear Question

I have the Tourmaster Sonora Air 2.0 jacket. Love it.

    Seat and Frunk secondary releases

On an RSS, if you lock your key in the frunk, just turn the handlebars all the way to the right. You'll see a cable with a small white piece of plastic around it. Gather up the slack of that cable into an L shape and give it a quick jerk toward the rear of the spyder. Frunk will pop open.

Rear tire replacement - what is everyone liking now?

Thanks for the welcome. I'm a fair weather rider, so not too concerned about wet traction. Anything will be better than the stock Kenda. I only have a little over 6k on the bike, and middle is wearing out. I've kept the recommended 28 psi in it, but from other posts I've read, that's probably a...

Rear tire replacement - what is everyone liking now?

Hey everyone! Just joined Spyderlovers. I'm replacing the stock rear Kenda on my 14 RSS on the 22nd. After reading a bunch of posts on here, I bought the Kumho Ecsta 4x II 205/55r15. It was between this and the Yoko S Drive, but decided on the Kumho. I don't think fitment should be an issue. The...
