• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I’m getting frustrated with the belt vibration - any ideas to help?

I have very similar issues since getting my 2021. After observing for 2 years, I believe the issue is from the 1330 engine, or some rotating member of the clutch mechanism. My solution is to run at 3500 rpm or higher. I could spend a lot of time explaining my observations and reasoning in more...

White knuckle test ride - can I learn to like this? Buy newish or older/cheaper?

You are doomed, you will never achieve the control you need to feel comfy. Get yourself another 2-wheeler and your wife a Spyder. Ride together, everybody wins.

    New Front Paws

Just got these front tires mounted and balanced, purchased from Walmart. Best ride ever, makes the Kendas feel like off road tires. Need to wait and see about wet performance. Cost effective and great ride, not sure on tread life.

Great information, thanx all. Looks like 3,000 min is a good rule to use.

ACE 1330 - What RPM do you cruise??

Talking flat and level, light wind. I am jaded by 7 years of 998, not sure how to detect 1330 is lugging because it seems good all the way down to 2500. Is steady 2500 RPM bad for engine?

    Clutch slippage???

Dirty shift shaft!! Closing out this thread, and forwarding some information that may be helpful to other 998 owners. I was suspicious about this slippage because it only seemed to occur when shifting. Turns out that this problem is not the clutch slipping but rather a dirty shift shaft...

    Clutch slippage???

Thank for the great explanation of the shift process, Billy. The perceived slipping appears to happen after the shift while the hydraulic clutch is disengaging. There is a slight increase in rpm for maybe a second and then the rpm drops and everything is normal and feels solid. In terms of...

    Clutch slippage???

Well, curiouser and curiouser. Reading the service manual regarding SE5 operation, more puzzling information. There are several solenoid driven valves on the Hydraulic Control Module that manage shifting on the SE5. One of the solenoids controls the "speed of clutch engagement for smooth...

    Clutch slippage???

Thank Ron and Mike. Regarding oil, last change before slipping was at 42,000 miles, BRP syn blend. Slipping did not start until 3,000 miles after that change, 45,000 miles. I changed the oil as soon as the slipping started at 45,000. Really not sure how to interpret the signs here. I am...
