• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Review: Should I Keep Her or Trade Her

You own a Gen I RT with a 998. 2014-2019 saw the Gen II RT with the 1330 ACE. That evolution, in itself, made the RT a completely different machine. Now the 2020 RT (Gen III) has a lot of good ideas for a new skin and accessories, plus the 1330 ACE engine. Another paradigm shift. The only...

M2 or Elka- Worth the Money?

My Elka Journey Well, I've been following this long thread because I only recently became aware of M2. Up until about the first four months I owned my '15 Spyder RT-S, I was an Elka Fan. I still like Elkas, but I had to remove the Stage 1 fronts after four months because they were leaking...

    Avoid the 2019 Spyder RT?

To the original question, the 2019 RT isn't something to "stay away from." It's internals, essentially are the same as all the great RTs since 2014 with the 1330 ROTAX ACE, Brembo Brakes and all the other improvements that came as of 2014 and beyond. On a less sanguine note, as of 2018, BRP...

    2020 Spyders

There is absolutely no validation to rumors of a 1632cc ROTAX ACE for the 2020 Spyder RTs (or F3s for that matter). What the RTs need FAR more than a larger engine is a frame and skin facelift. The bike needs to be longer and the fairing needs to be re-worked. The RT has not significantly...

    Sproket,Spline Question?

2015 Spyder RT-S, 16,000 Miles Front Sprocket/Spline failure ... Now we know it happens on RTs. Symptom: You're accelerating from a stop or to pass and suddenly you hear "brzbrzbrzbrz" coming from the front bottom near your floor boards, no torque and you're stuck there with no ability to...

    Front Sprocket Failure

2015 Spyder RT-S, 16,000 Miles Just happened to me in the right-turn lane at a major highway. :-( Half hour baking in the sun waiting on the tow (which AMA wouldn't cover because I couldn't call from the membership card at the time). Happy to at least understand what the problem was.

    Fredom Trailer

Freedom Trailer - OK, but if you already have an RT-622, hang on to it. I have never owned an RT-622, but purchased a Freedom Trailer to compliment my new 2015 RT-S. The Freedom Trailer will serve the purpose, but it has nowhere near the refinement of the RT-622. The 622 main shell is...

I have had enough "spyder loving" from non 2013 owners

Again, More Heat Than Light I am the President of the Maryland Spyder Web (www.meetup.com/marylandspyderweb) and host a roster of over 100 ryders. Of those who participate in our rydes, we have a handful of '13 RT owners. ... RT and ST. The majority, including myself own model years '10-'12...

    2010 RT should I?

2010 RT-S - 21K Miles, Regular Services and Recall Bulletins - No Probs. I have had my "Elvira," a Timeless Black, 2010 RT-S Premier Edition (#391) since January 2010. It's had a handful of small issue items (NOT a lot of bugs, per a previous poster). The recalls adjusted/re-set the ASC, put...

    Guess RS crowd doesn't rate

Mwell ... Consider There is a difference in curb weight between the RS and the RT of 227 pounds. A bit less of a difference between the ST and the RT. The RT has always been a bit obese for the 998, although it somehow it has seen us through just fine ... until today ;). Let's not get...

    Kuryakyn Grip for STS

Kuryakyn That Kuryakyn has now gone four years without recognizing there is a major market out there called the Spyder RT SE5 and failure to produce a clamshell (like the 6183) to fit the RT SE5 it is apalling to me and remains a pet peeve. I like what folks have done to get the 6183s on their...
