• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Power Steering

My 2009GS/RS kicks in the moment the engine is running. Good for three point turning around when stationery full lock to other full lock.

It's HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2009 CAN AM SPYDER GS

Good one. I, a while back got a 2009 (red). Had the choice of exactly your colour but went for the cheaper one because I didn't know if I would like it. Yes I do now! Why would you want to get rid of the saddle bags? Storage is always good. Beer and spirits in the Frunk and clothes in the side.

**** "DO'S & DO NOTS" for NEW SPYDER OWNERS... ****

Shifter, I remember the Yamaha RD350 2 stroke. What did you get out of the tank when running the old ton? Something like 50 miles, refuel every 1/2 hour?. How long did it last doing that? 5000 miles? Not much was it, to have to rebuild it. That bike doesn't support the argument on this thread...

Peter, fellow Australian, don't you realize that our vehicles are under less stress than most of the "up and over" world. Something to do with not having to contend with gravity, I've been told before. Our issues are around requiring stickier tyres to stop us from falling off the earth, aren't...

Sitting on a Spyder without asking? Anyone have this problem?

Fake excrement on the seat usually works downunder; my son is a practical joker, so I get these for free.:yikes:

If you are allowed to carry the Smith and Wesson, use it; it is USA afterall.;)

Check Your Front Radiator Fins for Debris!!!

Clean your radiators It is also important to keep these radiators free of bugs as their secretions can aid accelerated corrosion from the outside.

Drive belt vibration, my impression !

I just wonder why one needs an adjustment tool, particularly as a carry on board item. Logically why would one need to regularly adjust this belt if it was done right to start with, the claim being that it is necessary to adjust to a correct tension to increase it's life? So it's done right why...

    front wheels feel unbalanced

Very important point, feedback makes a forum work and worthwhile and satisfying , leading to greater participation and sharing of knowledge.

New to me GS wont start....

Posting your problem to a forum is good but limited. This is because you expect someone to have exactly the same fault/symptoms; but in reality this rarely occurs, every engine/bike problem is usually unique. That's not to say the resolution, as in your case, a new injector does not solve a...

    Would You Go Back?

I have just started riding a Spyder. This was because I missed, and lacked confidence in riding two wheeled cycles on the road (I have dirt bikes still). I thought this may bring me back into road motorcycle riding, a stepping stone backwards if you like. To get my fitness up. In answer to the...

Illinios Boy thanks for the effort in replying and supplying the bearing and spline info re aircraft engines. I know the clutch issue with SE5 998 motors, and now I know of primary drive bearing failure and I take it wear failure within the gear box? This all leads me to believe that the...

    removing the cat.

Yeah some of us have gone through the era when more "sound means more horsepower" ,was just a perception. On the otherside I still get amused at the hype behind mufflers; that people are forced to pay megabucks as if they are some magical modern day technology, when simply they are mufflers...

Failures by revving engine too low I'm not ignoring this to my peril. What is the type of failure related to too much time at low revs? I am reading anecdotal evidence not proper science. I do realise this topic has been discussed from the moon and back, but I cannot find say e.g. this 998 has...

Engine wear This thread has been going for a few years. Much was claimed in the earlier years. Now that some time has passed, from those that have contributed in the past, or others, is there any reason to add to, take back or modify the views expressed? Not criticizing the thread, I think...
