• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Oil drain plug

Drain plug The plug sheared at the bottom of the hex hole where it bottoms out. Outside is tapered for the crush washer and it sheared about even with the crush washer. Use a torque wrench to tighten and elbow to get off. It does not matter where I set the wrench, it is always a pain to get the...

    Oil drain plug

Has anyone else, getting ready for a long trip, while changing the oil, have the crankcase drain plug shear off just inside of the hex plug? Putting the plug back on with about 5 pounds of force on the thing just sheared off. Of course it's on a Sunday when no one is open and you are in the...

Any tricks or mods to cool an RSS SE5 a little?

Cooling I took the two rear panels off underneath to get more air flow out behind the bike. The Spyderpops radiator foam and catalytic heat shield will do some. You will still get heat up and on the right side. Some people have wrapped their pipes but have heard good and bad about that. When I...

New Recall Gas Cap Did Not Fix Gas SMell

Smell... We did not have any gas fume smell with the old gas caps -- We received the new ones for the RSS and RTS and dutifully put them on. Went on 2 different rides and the gas smell was overwhelming in the garage both times. Put the old gas caps back on to test if there was any fumes and...

    622 trailer lights

Lights You might need to use Custom Dynamics dual converter unit. Check with CHP if that is legal. I mounted the rear lights on the front fenders for people and checked with them before I turned them into turn signals, that was a big no-no. I know when I built semi trailers the side marker...

Front end clack in my '12 RT

Sway bar Have them check the sway bar mounts and connector "dog bones" under the front. The wife's did that, which annoyed her, so I got to check things out. I was on the ground under it while she was shaking it with everything she had. One loose bolt and all is well now.

    No RTS SE5 for now

Stalling Our 2010 RT-S did the same thing. They replaced throttle bodies, PCV valve, everything in the fuel management area and it still did it. Have them check the DESS module for shorts. That was the problem with ours.

    CB Problem

Have a CB shop or your dealer use a RF meter on the bike. It goes between the CB unit and the antena where they screw together. If the readings are high there is a problem. Look at the mounting of the antenna under the left speaker mount. There is a shield wire that needs to be mounted...

    Renting a Spyder

Renting In California we do not need a motorcycle endorsement to ride a Spyder. It is considered a three wheel vehicle so you are fine. From Sacramento figure on about 1 1/2 to 2 hours ride without stops when heading to South Tahoe. It is flat and easy riding on 50 all the way to Pollock Pines...

    What's your top speed rss..???

RSS speed On our way to Durango we stopped at the Bonneville salt flats for a run out there. So, on or about the flats, not saying where, my RSS speedo said 124 while the GPS said 119. The wife had her RT up to 101 on the flats.

    RT Vibration continues

Vibration Our 2010 RTS had the vibration at around 5000-5800 RPM. I mounted a Smoothspyder idler and the problem went away. When you accelerate, the bottom of the belt goes slack for a lack of a better word while the top of the belt goes into tension moving the bike down the road. It is the...

    GIVI V46 topcase wiring

3rd brake light and GIVI lights I made my own mount to put the turn signals and a third brake light under the seat on the back tire pan cover. I mounted a GIVI E55 bag on top and do not have any electrical issues. I tried using smaller lights but the wattage was higher than stock so it threw...
