• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Starting a New Audio Project - 2018 RTL

DONE (in pics) Visible through the air venting grill once the body plastic is installed. Marine grade so I would rather have it where it gets air and can also see the power on/off light. This is just a hasty, functional install of wires. I got it operational for the upcoming trip to TOTD...

Starting a New Audio Project - 2018 RTL

Done. Results: Sounds Incredible. Full range of sound. Incredibly clear (compared to stock). Bass guitars sound incredible. Issues: Heat can build up in the Frunk. - would love to receive ideas on mitigation strategy. Total Build Cost: around a 1,000 bucks. This doesn't include the...

Starting a New Audio Project - 2018 RTL

UPDATE - I have gotten both 5.25" speakers in the rear pods finally. I did what most do. I dremmel'd the hole to be bigger and used a bench grinder to grind down the one corner that stuck out. I am moving on to wiring the fullsize amp in the frunk and route the wires to the rear speakers...

Starting a New Audio Project - 2018 RTL

I'm back at it After I nailed the sound I wanted in my tests, I put down the audio project for another project. Seemed like a good stopping point to pick right up at later. So I packed it all away until now as I am back at it. I got the front tweeter speakers with the bass filters...

Starting a New Audio Project - 2018 RTL

SpyderPops played my stock 2018 next to a stock 2021 that was in the shop same time as ours. The 2021 blew ours away. It was way clearer and louder. I am going for more clarity and a little more volume. Rockford Fosgate is my brand of choice so I definitely dig your setup. I had some...

Starting a New Audio Project - 2018 RTL

Here is a JBL that has the lowest response of the JBLs at 55Hz. JBL Stadium 52F. I am curious if they will fit in her 2018. I will have to think thru how to figure that out. I would definitely like 5.25's in the front. What model are yours? I am trying to track down this DSP - ADDSP46...

Starting a New Audio Project - 2018 RTL

A lot of testing this evening. Distortion in the radio starts just above half volume on the main speakers (fronts). The sound doesn't really get loud until 75% with peak loudness around 90%. I put 600 Hz bass blockers on the front tweeters and I am pleased with them at volume. With 100w to...

Starting a New Audio Project - 2018 RTL

Thanks, Bob! Yeah the threshold is actually kind of low. My wife would just be happy with clearer sound. But I have learned so much already, I am starting to learn what I want to do our other vehicles. My standards are getting higher everyday. Cheers!

It's a legitimate concern for sure, but my wife doesn't mind now.

Yeah I don't think I'm going to use DSP. At the end of the day, clearer sound can be achieved with a RF amp. At least enough for her to be satisfied. But I would appreciate if you would drop the knowledge on me about the pros and cons. Cheers!

Starting a New Audio Project - 2018 RTL

Hey @TrikerMutha, Here is the perfect DSP channel format for my model. 2 rears, 4 fronts, 1 sub. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_5753SIXTY3/Rockford-Fosgate-3Sixty-3.html . I am thinking about it!

Starting a New Audio Project - 2018 RTL

After I installed the amps in the rear, I wondered that as well, but RockfordFosgate does good enough to clean it up. I tested the tweeters and the woofers in the front in a fun way. I ran just the woofer on the woofer wires then the tweeter wires. There is an audible difference in bass from...

Starting a New Audio Project - 2018 RTL

These amps (amplifiers) are per speaker. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_575PM100X1/Rockford-Fosgate-PM100X1.html They don't take any more power than the radio already reserves for the speakers. Thus, I don't need to improve battery or alternator. They are one channel amps. I got the fronts...

Starting a New Audio Project - 2018 RTL

Drove 4 hours to Hot Springs and one of the amps shutoff. It was a loose ground. I pulled the plastic in the shade at our hotel and set'er straight. Now that we are back, I will be pulling the front speakers. Depending on if the tweeter quits working when I pull the wire on the woofer, will...

Starting a New Audio Project - 2018 RTL

Hi Bob. Everything I have seen and read has been around the changing of speakers, or changing speakers with adding amplifier(s). I have had great luck cleaning and amplifying the signal whilst keeping the stock speakers. I'm going to try and continue that for the fronts since the backs turned...
