• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Recall - 2017-2019 RT and F3 Engine Output Shaft Can Break!

Got my recall notification today for my 2018 RTL. Thankfully my F3S is a 2015... The rebuild idea is great, but it needs seed trannys. Maybe they'll swap in new trannys until they get enough used ones to rebuild. It'll be interesting.

Are you happy with your aftermarket CAR tires?

I do like the 175/5s, but am certainly open to any reasons they might be problematic. When they were purchased, brands and sizes were VERY limited and the Yokos were the best choice of those recomended by the forum wisdom. Only issue I have is only at rest, where the power steering isn't as...

Are you happy with your aftermarket CAR tires?

My first Spyder, a 2015 F3S, was purchased with original Kendas. There was a moderate to severe balance issue at certain higway speeds, that made riding it home from Phoenix to San Diego, a bit of an adventure. That was in late 2022, when tire availabity was challenging. I was able to source...

How do you secure your Helmets when leaving your bike?

Yes. Lidlox website says it will and they work on my LS2 Valiant.:ohyea:

Red Dust of Death Recall???? Front Sprocket Recall - FINALLY....

The text regarding the recall was taken from the US Can Am website. Herm is a certified BRP mechanic at a BRP(Can Am dealership) and I'm not worried about the possibility of faiure support from BRP, which would likely be non existant, even if a specific recall procedure (if there is one) was...

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Finally figured out an easy way to secure large items to the RTL's passenger seat. I do most all the grocery shopping and regularly purchase 12 packs of soda and 2 1/2 gal. drinking water. My F3 has great attachment points with the Shad side racks and Baker luggage rack. Notice the Rok Straps...

Red Dust of Death Recall???? Front Sprocket Recall - FINALLY....

A couple of comments. First, having dealt with the **** ups on the F3S I purchased in Phoenix, that had been "maintained" by Ride Now - I'd stay away from them. Second on the pulley recall, you can easily check the health of the sprocket with a visual inspection. Heavy reddish dust is a signal...

Red Dust of Death Recall???? Front Sprocket Recall - FINALLY....

I have my appoinment next Wed. 9/30 for my 2015 F3S. Been waiting a couple of months for the dealer's one Can Am mechanic, Herm, who has been a friend to our vintage Japanese MC group for years. I'll be asking him about the loctite and cure time. The service manager indicated a fix and ride out...

Is there a Rear Brake Rewind Tool Set that includes Spyder's Brembo caliper?

Have done that twice on my Spyders, but based on the easy experience of using the correct tool on the Mini, I'll go for the tool, if it has the right fitting (or one I can grind to fit. :2thumbs: )

What is compromised by leaving Sprocket O-ring out?

The interesting thing about the pinched and squished compromised oil ring, is that the only mechanics that have had the wheel off prior to this tire change were those at the Phoenix Can Am dealership. where the PO took it for tire changes and ?. Based on the other screwups, that were probably...

Is there a Rear Brake Rewind Tool Set that includes Spyder's Brembo caliper?

If I can't find one that fits, I'll look at the kit faces I have to see if that might work. Thanks

Is there a Rear Brake Rewind Tool Set that includes Spyder's Brembo caliper?

This maybe should be in shop talk, but applies to both F3's and late model RT's. I realize Baja Ron has a rewind fitting that fits the face of the Brembo rear piston, but I'd like to find a rewind tool set like https://tinyurl.com/y747m5cy that covers multiple vehicles. We have a Mini Cooper...

What is compromised by leaving Sprocket O-ring out?

Thanks Ron. I agree. There are seals in front of the sprocket and wheel bearings, and I believe the bearings are sealed. The Oring seems to provide a bit of backdoor water and dust sealing to the sprocket and its bearing. Based on my environment, I'm good with leaving it out til the next tire...

What is compromised by leaving Sprocket O-ring out?

Just replaced the rear tire on my F3S and noticed the infamous (sometimes missing) sprocket O-ring was pinched and distorted. Whatever sealing function it originally provided was severely compromised. I called for the part at the local dealer, but the wait was over a week. I decided to leave it...

Are there "Run Flat" tires for Spyders?

Exactly. On our 2012 Mini Contryman All4, the ride was awful with the run flats. Contis have been mounted ever since those awful, stiff rocks died a grateful death. Can't imagine mounting them on the Spyders. Ron mentioned other options to avoid (or fix) flats if you're fearful.
