Hi fellow SpyderLovers. Let me tell you all a little about myself. I started my career 1980 as a USAF Security Policeman. I retired in July 1995 as a Sergeant. During my USAF career I was stationed at Randolph AFB, Osan AFB Korea and Lackland AFB, San Antonio Tx to name a few.
I attended the Police Academy at San Antonio college, While still in the USAF. I worked for a small Police Dept as a reserve police officer close to San Antonio, with a full commission as a Texas Peace Officer.
After retiring in 1995 from the USAF a year later I found my 2nd career with my department that worked for 26 years, few months and a few days, but whos counting. I had to retire a few months early due to medical. I'm not complaining my retirement is great. Now I have a full time job being retired. I work out 3 to 5 days a week at a local gym. Plenty of time to ride my Spyder go shooting.
My Deputy Chief from my department got me to join the Blue Knights International Motorcycle Club. I raised him from a pup, now he's a Deputy Chief now. Me I loved the streets, that's where the fun is. The Blue Knights are a great Motorcycle Club and we are International, yep cops all over the world. Great bunch of guys and gals who ride Motorcycles and Can-Am Spyders. Blue Knights International Motorcycle Club we are also a Charitable Club we donate to local charities and help fellow police officers. We have monthly meeting and a ride for BBQ, heck yeah BBQ. We also post on Facebook of our ride to invite the citizens to come and ride with us.
GDoc is a nick name I got from my last Chief. When our Chief was new to our department. While on the range for department qualifications, I fixed his Glock 22, Gen 2, after he was experiencing several malfunctions, replacing a few parts, extractor and a few springs, everything but the frame, slide, barrel and sights. After the replacing a few parts, He continued qualification without a hiccup. My Chief said he had been thinking of replacing his old Glock 22, Gen 2 with a new Glock 22 Gen 3. I told him I would buy his Gen 2 Glock, He said heck no, with all the new parts you just installed, I've got a new Glock. Your my GDoc. This is how I got my Nickname. GDoc the Glock Doc. GDoc is my Roadname with the Blue Knights.
I was also my department's Range Master and Firearms Instructor. Retiring in July 23, 2022, I have over 41 years total in police work.
I've rode bikes as a teenager in Germany, the Honda 50 during high school. Returning back to the USA, I rode a Honda 750. When I enlisted in the USAF and started a family, well the bike ridden days were placed on the back burner.
I found my 1993 Goldwing Aspencade 1500 in blue, rode for a few years. Trying to sell my GW now.
I was searching the internet, In August 2020 I found a Spyder in Orbital Blue. Blue is my favorite color. The 2016 Can Am Spyder RTS SE6 with only 1348 miles, still new. The Spyder was in Florida at Moramoto Power Sports. I was able to pick up the 2016 Spyder for $16,000., plus tax title and license. If the Covid was not around, I would have flew to Florida to ride my Spyder getting to know my Spyder intimately.
9/5/2020 around 1615 pm, I was outside waiting for the transport company to arrive. I was like a kid in a toy store. Boy that was a long wait time.
I saw them turn onto my street. You can't mistake the outline of a Spyder. The guy who transported my new Spyder backed the Spyder off the trailer into my driveway.
Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you, I had not told my wife, I had purchased the Spyder. The transporter had drove off when my wife walked out of the house. She hadn't said anything, just looking at the Spyder. I'm thinking to myself I'm in deep doo doo. I started thinking how big I need to build a bigger Dog House in the backyard. Because I was moving in, I'd have it all to myself.
She said, " what's this? " I replied, "A Spyder". She then asked where did it come from? I replied "Florida". She continued to walk around the Spyder. Me, I'm thinking, I'm in deeper, deeper doo doo. To my surprise she says, "When do I get to go for a ride!". Of course my reply is, first we have to get you a helmet and jacket in any color you like. She was almost as happy as I was, almost! Me like a kid, waking up on Christmas morning finding the Spyder under the Christmas tree, would need to be a tall tree.
On 9/5/2020, grabbed the helmet and jacket and rode my new 2016 Spyder. I forgot to reset the trip counter, I was out for an hour or so. The wife calling, come home I want to go.... Dang next time I'll leave my cel at home. We have all done that right, accidentally. Yeah, accidentally.
I have a lot of plans to add a few accessories to my Spyder. But first I want to ride and get to know my Spyder.
Well that's all for now, I always say ride safe, always wear your safety gear, watch out for cagers and 18 wheelers. Almost forgot, watch out for junk, potholes and road kill, skunks will make your ride a little stinky. Most of all have a great time riding your Spyder.
