• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Trip to Alaska and return

SPOT Thanks to you Yazz for passing along the "SPOT" info to me also, I had ten people monitoring it every day, some of the e-mails I got back when we were on the ferry and I forgot to tell people that we were going to take it were interesting; like "there must be something wrong you're in the...

Debri in brake switch Glad your up and running again. Remember when I had the "Orange Screen" problem between Wasilla and Tok and you suggested that some crud from the road might have gotten into the brake linkage; well you were right and apparantly it happened to you also. I washed my linkage...

    Trip to Alaska and return

I thought it would be interesting to know how many Spyder riders have ventured from the lower 48 to Alaska and back on their bikes. I know that Yazz and I have done it; has anyone else?

Cheyenne to Alaska and return - Spyder critique

This will be the first of a series of critiques covering my trip to Alaska and return. Some of my views may not coincide with yours but they may lead to some constructive discussions. First and foremost at my age (74.5) and mechanical ability (minimal) was/is the Spyder reliable? The answer is...

Day Thirtyone Cheyenne to Alaska and return

We made it! Cheyenne to Alaska and return. Had an uneventful ride the last 440 miles and pulled into Cheyenne around 3:15pm. The last three days took some of the steam out of me, feeling a little tired or perhaps my age, but all in all it was an adventure of a lifetime. The Spyder made it all...

Day Thirty Cheyenne to Alaska and return

Almost home, made it to Ogden UT after a long day of riding and one stop to see some friends in Boise ID. Weather was great for riding except for the winds from Boise area to Twin Falls, winds(crosswinds) were so strong that they were moving my trailer around, almost as if it was fishtailing...

Scheduled to disembark at 8:30 am but the Ferry arrived early so they started to call for us to "start our engines" at 8:00am, the experienced traveler(rides this ferry lots) was ready for this turn of events while the rest of us played catchup. Got the bikes all loaded up engines started wives...

Day Twentyseven Cheyenne to Alaska and return

Still enroute to Bellingham, another day of relaxing and reading. No doubt about it when the channel is calm you can't help but enjoy the scenry and relax. Strolled around the deck a little more today and was surprised to see so many tents pitched on the observation deck, instead of the normal...

Day Twentysix Cheyenne to Alaska and return

Day Twentysix started with mechanical breakdown to one of the ferry's driveshafts which caused the Ferry to pull into the port of Petersburg for inhouse repairs, unfortunately by the time the repair was completed we missed the tide so we had to wait approximately 6 hours before we could transit...

Day Twentyfive Cheyenne to Alaska and return

Day Twentyfive started in a fog,(literally.) The fog bank was with us for almost 4 hours so the early morning sightseeing was held to a minimum. However, when we got through the fog bank we were almost to Sitka and several tour buses were waiting for us. If you ever get to Sitka make sure you...

Checked out of the Chilkoot River Lodge and headed for Haines downtown area for a little sightseeing and maybe a little shopping, We told the wives that if they couldn't carry it on their person they couldn't get it; needless to say I had to come up with more space in the trailer to hold the...
