• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What bike did you ride to get your motorcycle license ??

Never took a test for permission to ride on government roads. When I got my license at 16 (1972) in Georgia, they didn't do endorsements. I was riding a Honda 350 at the time that my dad brought back from Japan. Then the Air Force allowed you to bring stuff back home with you if the plane had...

WAAAAY OT: Does Anyone Use a Password Manager on Their PC?

I used to use Keepass but hated having to keep each device synced (computer, phone, etc). I now use Bitwarden. It's easy to use (and will import from other programs.) It syncs across devices. It also is available on the web so if you can get to the internet you have your passwords. It uses the...

    How to update garmin 660

If you stay in the Garmin universe for trip planning, I would recommend downloading their MapSource. It is the predecessor to BaseCamp, and somewhere on Garmin's site (at least it used to) it said that the 660 isn't compatible with BaseCamp. I was able to create trips on BaseCamp then export to...

The BEST DARN PHONE MOUNT ON EARTH !

I bought one from the manufacturer before I knew Dave had them. If I need another I would get from Dave. Dave may sell the whole getup he shows in his picture, but the actual clamp is the just the top right part. It has a RAM ball mount so you can mount it anyway you would mount any other RAM...

Do you still have a regular motorcycle along with your Spyder ??

I got my RT-L when my health said I didn't have the balance to ride two wheels. I sold my Cross Country Tour as fast as I could because I didn't want it bringing up the memories. I love my RT-L but three wheels are just not the same as two.

    Any American Flag mounting suggestions?

I use two of the 13in mounts, one for each side of my plate. Each will hold two 6X9 flags or one 10X15. They have no problem with the fender on my RTL.

    Mucho Kudos

I hope this is the right place to post, but I want to recognize two companies/people for going beyond the call of duty to help a fellow out. I have been trying for a while now to figure how to mount some things on my RTL that I know could be done but the manufacturer said couldn't and wouldn't...

    CB for 2020

I second the request for information. I've communicated with J&M and they have no idea how to use their CB on a Spyder. #jcthorn & #Steve W, any information on mounting the J&M and antenna, as well as making it Bluetooth would be highly appreciated.

    Your First One

My first bike that wasn't a "mini-bike" was a 1970ish Honda 350. My dad brought it home direct from Japan when he was out traveling with the GA Air National Guard. You could do things like that back then as long as there was space available and you weren't displacing official cargo. I got my...

Anyone installed a CB Radio on a 2018-'20 Spyder RTL?

Houston is a little too far to come to you for help, but I do have some questions. How do you mount it? How do you make it Bluetooth? How and where did you put the antenna? I have communicated with J&M and they tell me their CB won't work on my RT (won't mount, won't BT, and they can't help with...

johnsimion or any military retiree; quick question.

With the inflation back in the Carter days, COLAs were in the 4.7 range and above. While in the Colorado School for Wayward Boys (aka AF Academy, it was males only then) the janitor talked about how his retired pay had gone up so much it was well over what he got on active duty. He didn't say...

    Garmin map update.

When I had a memory card loaded with music in my 660, Garmin Express said there wasn't enough internal memory to complete the map upgrade and had to use the card. When I removed the card and restarted the upgrade, miraculously, the device now had enough internal memory. I never knew removing...

Where did you get your "Handle"?

From my avatar you can see what I did for a living in the Air Force. I had a few nick names in the AF but (while it's strange for either a pilot or a rider) this stuck. I tell people it's what happened to my career after making major, or it's the name of the catcher in "Bull Durham".
