• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    2013 RTS SE5 Maintenance schedule

Maintenance schedule Huddlestone - I'm not the expert by any means, but I will state what I know. Prior to 2013 the owners manuals had the following maintenance schedule: initial break-in @ 600mi/1000km, every 3000mi/5000km, every 6000mi/10000km or 1 year, every 12000mi/20000km or 2 years...

    Scheduled maintenance checklist

Maintenance Work Yellhelp - Glad to hear you've found such a great dealer to do your scheduled maintenance and other work. Not that I have a problem with having a dealer do the work, but for me it's a 350 mile trip each way to the nearest authorized dealer, so for me it's more economically...

    Scheduled maintenance checklist

I'm relatively new to SpyderLovers and being a Sypder owner myself. Not sure if anyone that does their own scheduled maintenance work is interested in using checklists that I put together for keeping track of the work performed by yourself, but if anyone would like a copy, just PM me and I will...

    Bike rack question...

My wife has asked me to post a question... She likes to ride a bicycle as well as her Spyder. She would like to bring her bicycle along when we go on trips so that she can ride her bicycle when we stop for the night. We've recently bought a trailer hitch for the Spyder as we have plans to...

    GPS Question ???

spydertrike - My 2012 RT-Limited came with the Zumo 660. As far as I can tell none of the Spyders come with the CB Communications system, it's an added option. I had not used it until yesterday to tell me directions.. so tried it out last night. As for myself, I could hear the directions...

    New Larger Oil Filter Question

OIL CHANGE The new revised change is for 7500km/4600mi after the initial break-in of 1000km/600mi. Previously it was 5000km/3000mi.

    New Larger Oil Filter Question

Hello pslawing - As Rattigan_Roger said, if the new longer filter has been installed there "SHOULD" be a sticker located on the oil tank now. However I will tell you from my experience, thats not always true. I just changed the oil today in my wife's 2010 RT-S for her 4600mi service thinking...

    Cruise Control question...

Showie - thanks I'll have to give that a try. I was in 5th gear, not sure what the rpm might have been, but I'll check it out. I was expecting it to be like an auto that works on a certain min speed. Most autos are between 30 -35 for min speed.. regardless of gear or rpm.

    Cruise Control question...

No didn't hit any bump.. was smooth road. Wouldn't re-engage until the speed was back up to at least 46 mph.

    Cruise Control question...

Just recently purchased 2012 RT Limited, so it comes standard with factory cruise control. Upon using the cruise control, set for 55 mph... works great. Coming into a 45 mph zone, I used the cruise control switch to slow down to the new speed but still keep it on cruise, and it was fine down...

    Premature rear brake pad wear?

NancysToy - It wasn't my assessment that the brake pads needed replacement this early, that came directly from the Dealer Service Dept. I did check them this morning with the use of a dime (~1.35mm thickness), and the dime just fits between the rotor and the back of the brake pad. I would be...

    Premature rear brake pad wear?

BajaRon - Thanks for the helpful information. I'm not expecting the pads to last as long as car disc brake pads, however I think 4600mi is a bit on the low side.. imo. I was hoping the Dealer would say, Yes there is this maladjusted or this has failed and the brakes will be replaces under...

    Premature rear brake pad wear?

Chupaca - Forgot to ask, whats the proper procedure to check for a maladjusted park brake? Also do you know that the thickness of new pads are? I see the minimum thickness is no less then 1mm.

    Premature rear brake pad wear?

Chupaca - My thoughts also. I don't understand how dirt on the speed sensor would cause such an issue, even dirt between the pads and disk is a far stretch imo.. I asked my wife about where she keeps her foot, and she says nowhere near the brake pedal, she drives a manual truck so doesn't have...

    Premature rear brake pad wear?

Rayelljay - Thanks for the recommendation. I'll take the Spyder out in the morning for a quick trip to check on the possibility of a dragging brake.
