• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. I thought it would be great to start a thread on where to eat the best breakfast, lunch, dinner while traveling throughout the u.s. what i'm looking for is value, portions, awesome tasting so please list at least 1 place with city and state for each category and of course the name of the restaurant you might also highlight there house specialty dish or meal and then rate it with dollar signs(i.e $,$$,$$$)we as travelers are always looking for great deals while traveling to save money not looking for your just ordinary places but places like food paradise shows on t.v. or
(diners,dives,drive-ins) and of course you must of eaten there. looking forward to all the responses:sour::yes: i'll start I know of a great lunch place.

lunch: marys café in strawn,tx there specialty is chicken fried steak the size of the entire platter everything made from scratch nothing frozen.$$

hopefully this thread will stay on the first page so when we do go to travel we will be able to find this for future reference.

Rudy's Country Store and BBQ, with locations in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona . . . most are in Texas. Get the "moist brisket", and, if you are active duty or retired military, show your ID for a discount. Besides their BBQ, they have the best creamed corn on the planet . . . don't mistake it for that :cus: that comes in cans!!

For any folks headed up to the Black Hills for either the 3-wheel rally or the Sturgis 75th, you might want to try Burger and Buns on the main drag in Custer, lunch or dinner. Great 1/3 # burgers, excellent fries for $8-9. OR, try the Alpine Inn in Hill City for lunch! German food, but save room for the desserts!!!! Ride safe!

:agree: on the Alpine. In fact we WILL be eating there during the Deadwood rally.

In Pierre, SD or now Mitchell, SD the best place for prime rib the the world is the Cattleman's Club. After eating it there, I can't eat it anywhere else. The one in Pierre is the original and has a better ambiance than their new one in Mitchell.

Bacon

Tony's I75 in Birch Run, MI. Bacon cheese burgers have a pound of bacon on them! You can smell the bacon miles away. Reasonably priced, too! Joe

Truck stops

I know you are looking for those special places that the locals go to for good foood, service, etc. Wife and I spent about 10 years on the road traveling in our RV (think 40' converted Greyhound bus - pulling a vehicle) and ALWAYS had good food, service, etc. at the big name truck stops. Flying J, etc. Open 24/7. Clean showers, too, if needed. Took 40 acres to turn my 'bus' so truck stops were handy for that as well. Spent many nights parked back by the 'big rigs' and met many interesting folks as well. Many couples, too.

You guys have to slow up...

I can't write fast enough, to keep up with you!

Oh! Oneonta, NY: Brook's Barbecue... :2thumbs:

It's worth a 100 mile, and two hour detour! nojoke

If there are choices--we usually hit the one with the most vehicles in the parking lot.

Sometimes no choice.

Way to many choices from all over the country. The two most worst are what sticks out for me: one was in British Columbia--a Chinese Buffet and the other is in Soldotna AK--I wont be taking anyone there either. Otherwise, most on the road stuff is ok to great and over the top.

I like Buzz's Wharf on Maui HI. I spent the most time there on all three trips.
