Can-Am Passenger Seat Bag - Worth the Money?

I looked at the BRP seat bag, as well as the tank bag and I'm sure they are fine, but I decided to go with the Cortech mini tank bag and the Cortech sport tail bag. They both fit the spyder well, and have plenty of storage for my needs. They are also much cheaper than the BRP bags. I paid around $66.00 for the Tail bag and $59.00 for the tank bag. I'm still able to lift the seat to add fuel to the tank. The bungie ties on the bag have some give to them to allow me to lift the seat.

Great idea! I'll check this out! Thanks!

based on this I just ordered the Cortech sport tail bag....over a $100 less than the Can-Am branded bag---thanks

I have the passenger seat bag,use it most of the time.
You really only have to unstrap the clip closest to you to lift the seat and fill up.
I put the gas cap up under the seat to hold it up as I fill up.
I like to keep my cover in there. It also makes a great back rest.

I just ordered the Cortech Sport Tail Bag -- $54.99 + $6.99 shipping = $61.98 -- best price I found. Here's a link:

http://www.mymcgear.com/browse.cfm/4,65466.hml?AFF=690MCG

I just noticed the web page now says "out of stock. usually ships in 5-7 business days". I'm willing to wait, though, to save a few bucks!

Will post on how it works out.

Well, if nothing else, I guess I'm selling bags with this post! :ohyea:

Ha! Ha! You should get a CORTECH commission!!! ;)

Seriously, it's a good looking bag and should work great for me. I just hope it fits okay on my Corbin seat!

I'll just send my home address to CorTech and wait for the commission checks to roll in!

I'm sure the CoreTech bag will work just fine with your Corbin seat. It will probably hold the bag as well or better than the stock seat.

After looking (and sitting on) Lamont's Corbin seat I'm thinking of getting one of those as well. Not that the stock seat is bad at all. But the Corbin seem's pretty cushy!

Let's see, commission checks from CorTech and Corbin...yes I could deal with it ok!

I absolutely LOVE my Corbin seat! I had problems with the stock seat hitting my tailbone rather than the (ahem) fattier parts of my butt and sure got sore after riding a while. (the Princess and the pea syndrome!)

NO problems at all with the Corbin -- butt soreness is a non-issue now. It felt great the first time I took a ride.

It did pain me greatly to part with the $$$, but now that I have it, it's absolutely worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY! I'd do it again in a heartbeat!
:2thumbs:

As a side note, my stock seat is still for sale!

The Cortech sport tail bag should work fine with the Corbin seat. This bag also has a removable neoprene pad on the bottom. I keep the pad attached to the bag to prevent any scuffing on the seat. I find it sticks very well to the seat and no sliding around when the bag is secured. The bag is also expandable if you need that extra storage space. I just keep mine expanded most of the time.
I've been thinking myself of upgrading to a Corbin seat or maybe the new BRP touring seat. It would be nicer for those long rides.

Go for the Corbin -- you'll love it!

I read lots of posts on this website before ordering, and there are a million different opinions. Some hate the Corbin, some love the Corbin and the same goes for the Russell Day Long seat.

I knew I needed to make a change and had heard lots of good things about Corbin from biker friends, so decided to go for it. I'm so glad I did! It feels great and looks great too!

Course, you know what "they" say -- OPINIONS ARE LIKE BUTTS -- EVERYBODY HAS ONE!! :chat:

As I posted earlier, I ordered a Cortech Sport Tail Bag from www.mymcgear.com on 5/3 and thought I was backordered. I received it today (Saturday, 5/9) via Fed Ex -- great service!

The bag is extremely well made and looks great on my Spyder! I have a Corbin seat and I added a driver backrest I found on eBay. The bag fits on the passenger seat just perfectly!

A question for those of you who have the Cortech bag: I notice the bungee cord hooks don't fit on the hand rails of the Spyder. We ended up wrapping the bungee cord around the hand rail and then attaching the hook to the bungee cord. Is this the way you attached yours to your bike?? It seems really secure, but was just wondering if there's a better way. I couldn't tell how it was attached in the pictures posted earlier in this thread.

Nice looking bag, well made and an excellent price! It holds a lot too!

My Cortech bag fits just fine with my Corbin seats. Don't forget there is a great write-up on how to install these tank bags - along with nice photo's - you might have to do a search to find it, however. It's here in the "General Discussion" forum.

Mine now serves as a back rest as well as a container for my rain gear and a cover + miscellaneous items.
I took off the handle and replaced it with some Velcro and stuck a pad on there. Really coinvent and functional now.

That is what I did, except on the back bungee cord you can go around the hand rail and attach the hook to the loops on the bag that are used for the shoulder strap. On the front I just went around the hand rail and hooked it back to the bungee cord. It does stay very secure. Check the closeup pic again that I posted earlier. You might get a better idea of what I'm talking about.
I hope you like your new Cortech sport bag. I find it very handy for myself.

Isn't the BRP Passenger Bag larger than the Coretech?

The Cortech tail bag is smaller than the BRP bag, but for the price the Cortech sport bag is not a bad choice and it is expandable. You can also get the saddle bags to match to add more storage space as shown below. Of course this will jump up the cost for the extra storage, but some people here on these forums have used these saddle bags and have reported them to work out well. I'm certain that there are also many other choices and brands for tail bags and saddle bag systems that might work on the spyder. It all comes down to personal preference and which one works for you.

Hi I’m Danny I traded my H-D for a 08 SM5 last week it has a Corbin seat since that is a two piece would the straps still have to be undone to gas up. The Corbin hinges at the back of the solo saddle. I will get some pictures of my bike when I get a couple of things installed. I have a J&M radio and am mounting a zuma 550 and XM radio. Also a new windshield and the murdered out pipe (carbon) the bike already has HID head lights and fog/running lights mounted to the front fender struts. I am also putting on the fender leds and signal lights from no magic. I have been watching this forum for a few weeks getting ideas. I think I am going to order the two way. The wind shield is the Cal Sci. Oh yah I also have the 4" risers and ISO grips and mini boards mounted forward.
The answer is no - you don't have to remove anything with a Corbin seat. Just remember the bag has a front and a back. This is important if you have the Corbin back rest.

vtrider: THANKS! That's the way I have mine hooked up and it feels really secure. The only difference is that I have mine turned around the other way -- the wider side of the Cortech bag is facing my backrest. I just liked the looks of it this way.

Thanks for your help!
