• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I hope that it isn't flammable!

There have been some other types of insulation suggested.
I have to assume that all of the "goopy" stuff will have to be removed; before recovering anything... :gaah:

yes, we got most of it off but there were some places we could not reach. It will have to burn off. Hopefully nothing will burst into flames

I've had mine on for 1500 miles and no issues.

It handles up to 2000 degs, so not sure if maybe you had it closer to something than I do?

Everyone always wants to kick the dog. :roflblack:

What type bike is it on?

Do you live in the desert?

Do you let it idle for 1/2 an hour?

LOL

Interesting..!!

whatever it is it's a mess. Something is amiss if yours melted like that and Snoopy's is doing fine. Same stuff..?? Same heat range..?? Same installation..?? Could it have come loose falling onto the pipe..?? Regardless if rated to 2000* seems the manufacturer is stretching things...:dontknow:

If anyone ever wants to know what the cost of free advice is; just try using it... Mark Twain. :roflblack:

Seriously though... what a mess. Something has to be different with the two situations.

I am listening...

My bike is yellow, the fastest color. So basically I have much more airflow and haven't had any issue.

.

I have the Thermo Tec starter heat blanket between the gas tank and seat on the wife's RTS. It works good, cut the heat under the seat. I used the Thermo Tec cool shield tape on the fuel tank and it didn't stick.

it used to be. Before RED was invented. That was a long time ago, you might not remember when it was reported on Huntly Brinkley.

Did you try cleaning the tank good? I think it has cosmoline on it.

it is rated at 2000F but the adhesive backing is only rated 300 F. It was put on a 2013 ST-S and yes he has the exhaust wrapped.

"Adhesive Backed Heat Barrier is made up of woven silica with a flexible aluminized finish. The highly reflective surface of the material is capable of withstanding radiant temperatures up to 2000°F. The adhesive backed side handles direct and continuous temperatures up to 300ºF."
