There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. you started a thread and now that you seem to be satisfied with the fix, yet you provide little information. This is a poor response to something you started and to those who have 2014's or are following the reliability of the new RT. How about if you complete this thread and shed some light on what the fix was.

and Italians and Japanese and Chinese and Mexicans and Germans and who knows who all! I don't really know where all the parts come from on a Harley but it is a cosmopolitan machine, just like the Goldwing. In fact, there was a time a few years ago when the Goldwing had more American content than the Harley.

I have noticed that BRP parts come from Italy and Mexico and USA and Austria and I don't know where all. It is very rare to find any product that is majority domestic product, let alone 90% + domestic. It's gotten to the point that if you boycott some product because it's "foreign built", you might be boycotting your neighbor's job!
:agree:Just think the following post by Dragon rider:" I'll be one of the first in line for either the Wing or BMW version. Neither is built by the French, and both have great dealers close by...."
Was uncalled for, I am not French but most of my neighbours and good friends are. As for the parts, not many if any vehicles are built solely in one country! JMHO. Glad the original OP had his issue fixed in a manner satisfactory to him!:thumbup:

SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG HERE

I'm in total agreement with you on this.........I have been following this thread hoping to learn something about this Spyder problem , well WE haven't yet and from what the OP has said since the repair I don't think WE ever will........Why is the question ....... Mike

Intolerance

Sometimes you meet someone in person and they seem very nice, but sometimes those same people have an alter-ego that likes to get online and post messages which are only designed to cause anger and stress the relationship of the group. Chances are, if you knew this person outside of the online world, you would never believe that they posted these messages. I'm guessing before the internet they kept themselves balanced by abusing family members and small animals. Those people have nothing at all to offer the group. They take with extreme prejudice, and they love to start trouble. In the internet world, they are known as trolls.

I have a code of ethics that I live by. One of my codes is "I have no tolerance for intolerance". I post on this board only to help other members, as well as gain knowledge from those who know much more about the Spyder than me. However, when I see someone who didn't do anything to anyone being attacked, I speak up for that person(s). This being said, Lamont, I really wish you apply a three strikes rule upon members that personally attack other members where the ultimate punishment is to be banned from this forum.

Texas,

I read your post twice and then read through all the other posts. I could not find any outright personal attacks.:dontknow: What I found were members interested in the actual fix and the OP holding out with any definitive answer.

forum

it takes all types to make a forum, on some treads if lamont banned people from what they said the numbers will drop big time. i am sure a deal was made to ask him not to say what was wrong with his bike, but we will never know so NO BIG DEAL, i don't have a 14 nor am i looking to buy one, so beat of luck to him and happy miles ahead

I have learned quite a bit from this topic and these posts. Well first off, a 2014 may not have a leak, but could leak. I try not to get worked up over this stuff knowing it can be repaired.

The best portion I did learn was hearing about CFPS, the dealer that accomplished the work. I am needing to find a dealer to accomplish warranty work when needed. I have searched this site, and have found a small amount of praise for my local dealer, but the information was pretty old. Having visited the local dealer on several occasions, (no service work) I have never been let down and leave shaking my head at how poorly the "team" represents itself to customers. From experience of previously working in a 4 line + dealership, I knew that if I acted in a similar way it was not tolerated.

So it seems I have 150 mile runs to what will likely be my servicing dealer.

As for the info about the leak, well, first off they fixed it. Easily understandable to be upset with a toy or needed transportation that is not inexpensive having a problem. Then to have it again if not confidence inspiring.

In regards to those slamming the product with fools talk. OK so don't buy one. It is your money, and if you did buy one, I am sure the bandwidth would clog from bitching. Buy the new Harley, get a Gold Wing in whatever configuration you want, but what makes you happy and enjoy it.

To the OP, maybe someday we will hook up. Could be this upcoming Saturday at the hotel, or maybe not. But hopefully we will meet you and others as time goes on.

Well??

Hate to put it this way, however...you posted relatively upset about the issue and then come back and say its resolved and you are satisfied with the outcome. In the forum world, this is a great opportunity to provide valuable information to the masses about a possible/potential problem with the machine. Weather we are buying one or not, the info allwd a better informed consumer. For the wrenchers and gear heads that participate in the forum, knowing the problem allows them to keep an eye on things and actually helps to further product development. Just my .02

+2

Not trying to flame on anyone, but you should know if the problem happens again - and you post about it. You should know your post is going to go to more and more uninterested members because you never posted what you learned; replies will become increasingly negative.

The short story was before Al Gore invented the internet.

Now, you have to modify the story to include his posting on line of his troubles, etc.

Are we hijacking this thread yet again?..

I must agree KAPike... While I realize the author can decide what the update to the

fix is posted, it is interesting to see how the posts came out at first, and now he is criticial of those that want "the rest of the story". Perhaps the next best post he could chime in with is that he is not going to provide the details, and his reason for that choice. Perhaps then in the future, he could create new posts with that outcome in mind.....l.

spyderdmb1621 doesn't OWE us an explanation; nor does BRP...
It's our own natural sense of curiousity that's now fanning the flames in here.
I'm going to just be REALLY happy that his bike is back up and running, and he's happy with the response by BRP AND his dealer. :2thumbs:

Can we just let it go at that? ;)

Bob , thank you, let the knuckleheads have there opinions , you know how I feel. Post is officially CLOSED and

Amen

The Rotax motor is purchased by that business unit as an assembly I would guess. So they run the engine and if no obvious issues arise they do their check list on the machine then send it out for sale. So it is entirely possible that the engine leaking oil is not even something BRP is aware of as an issue or wide spread issue unless they get feedback from the dealers fixing them saying it is. I am sure they are all over Rotax asking questions about this issue to see if they have a wide spread issue and to do some containment and then a Action Plan.

The BRP folks will hold their suppliers feet to the fire is this an obvious defective parts issue to get it resolved quickly and completely but first they need to identify and and communicate and it seems they are doing their do diligence on the matter.

OP why not just let everyone know the things you know about the "fix" "issue" on this and then this thing can be put to bed.

Do not take guys saying they will not buy Spyder seriously they like me would not be here if they didn't already own one or were considering one.
