• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

No wunder the gas tanks get hot!

I found this picture on here from "Ted's red sled" and it clearly shows how close the exhaust pipes is to the fuel tank on the left side. I have never been into mine that far but was amazed to see it that close, wow!

Yes, it is so close the gas tank was designed with an indent to allow for the pipe....:yikes:
 
And mine is now all covered with DEI heat deflector in that area.:thumbup: My cap stays reatively cool now.

With those sort of tolerances under there; it wouldn't take much reduction of airflow to cause things to heat up quickly... :shocked:
 
It's really amazing how close the exhaust pipe to the fuel tank. I never took my tupperware yet and your post pix is well appreciated. BRP should make some fix on this otherwise there's a danger lurking under our tanks.

We did the same, but immediately noticed that our seat got much much warmer than I had ever noticed it before. I'm sure its a matter of cause & effect. Since the heat can no longer be absorbed by the tank &/or subsequent fuel, the heat has to go somewhere, & heat rises, so it seems logical that the seat would be the next available ingredient to the puzzle where the heat WOULD go to. Since you did this as well, I'm curious if you've noticed the same?

We recently installed an on-demand blower for when things get too warm, we can now immediately cool them back down ;) But now that winter is fast approaching, I'm kinda glad to have a 'RedNeck Heated Seat' ..... :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

I also applied it around the frame at the seat area and around the gas cap (plastic cover especially)and latch areas (closed the gaping hole around the latch).Those are not vent holes around the seat area poor engineering. I posted temp readings on another post nothing above 110 in either area now. The vents by the deflectors are where it should rise to. Yes they should be larger and more vents should exisit IMHO.

Would like to see how you did the "on demand" blower. where it's mounted and such....

Yep and I bet they would like all of us with issues to just go ahead and order that 14 model. That was what pissed me off the most when I seen that video of BRP showing the 14 with all the body removed and the tech saying that the new model is redesigned "to solve the complaints about heat issues" what about us with the 13's and the handful that have burnt to the ground! I'm still waiting to hear from BRP on mine...
 
It's a shame these kind of modifications have to be made on our Spyders! It takes away good farkle money! But you gotta do what ya gotta do... :dontknow:
