There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. in court as a juror

would you show any type of mercy towards this guy for confessing to drunk driving. having lived with a drunk woman for 10 years i wouldn't. i am sorry to say i hate drunks and the things they do and the people they hurt because of their drinking. when i saw this on the news they had a defense lawyer saying she would use this to try to sway the jurors that he is a honest man and this shows he is very sorry. he has not been arrested yet but they should throw the book at him.

I feel bad for the guy, but i feel worse for the guy who died. Where is that poor fellows well constructed video on who he was and how many people relied on him and cherished him? So while i feel bad for this guy, I feel it is past the point of mercy.

having a brother and sister that are / were drunks and drug'es.

As the youngest kid in the family I have to feeling for this guy let them fry him. Sorry that is how I feel about it.

to be sorry my ex was a drunk for 10 years and i have nothing but bad memories about everything we did. yes it is a sickness same as smoking and drugs. i just quit smoking and it is very hard to do, leaving my ex was good for me and i took care of mom for a few years b4 she passed but the ex just kept drinking. than she went to aa and got sober for two years and than went back to drinking. i just heard from her last week and she told me she has been away in a half way house for drinking and is now in a 3/4 house, i have no clue what that is, but she said she will be there until she gets a job and back on her feet. when i was younger i was a bouncer in a bar and a very heavy drinker but always said it's only weekends. until i started drinking on weekdays after work. so one night i was drunk and my father who was a tough strong italian grabbed me one night and said, if i see you drunk one more night i will kill you. now i knew my father and believed he would do it so i quit drinking, lol. so now i have no sympathy for people that drink or do drugs ( hard drugs ) and drive and hurt other people.

No sympathy here either. Lock him up and throw away the key. We have a similar situation here. A drunk ran down two teenagers and killed both. The prosecutors are trying to see that he gets at least 99 years for it.

No sympathy here either. Being a former firefighter/EMT I've seen the results of drunk driving. The drunk usually comes out ok. My older brother was an alcoholic. Dad and I had to go get him one night when he totaled my car while home on leave. He has been sober for many years now. There have been several cases, like the one posted, here in NC. They are charged with felony death by motor vehicle if they're drunk. I won't even have one beer if I'm driving. Been on many poker runs where there are several beers consumed at each stop. Our RC doesn't tolerate it.

Just watched the whole 3 minute video.

I live where this happened. The minimum sentence is 8 years. The prosecutor already responded with that bit of information. The jury has nothing to do with this except to find him guilty/innocent. They do not determine length of sentence, etc. It is based upon what he is found guilty of; previous record; etc.

The jury is to limit themselves to the particular facts of this case and the charges. This defendant has made it easier for them to do that with a YouTube video.

I don't think the video was a lame attempt to find sympathy. His own attorney recommended against posting the video. He has just started his rehabilitation a little earlier then most. While a jury can be swayed (sometimes), the judge will apply the cold, hard logic of the law and the sentencing guidelines. And two lives are wasted in the end........

EVERYONE who drinks and drives has broken the law. Some more often then others. Some way over the limit, while others just barely. The only way not to ever drive drunk is to not drive when you have been drinking OR not drink at all. Easier said then done.

OH.. and what about those studies that say texting is worse then driving drunk in many instances?

the last time i went to ohio to see a friend i saw different colored plates and she told me that one color was for people with DUI's on their record, is this true because i believe that it is a great idea and might be a deterrent to drinkers who drive and think they might be watched more than other people

It would be better to use existing technology to prevent drunks from starting a car in the first place. Nothing can undo the damage already done, but they should go to jail.

it would be great and some people had breath detectors installed in their cars from a order from a court, but now they found people would have a friend blow into it to start the car than they drive

I have no sympathy, at all, for someone who kills while driving drunk. OK, I accept that alcohol is addictive, but getting behind the wheel is a choice, and they don't have to do it. Take a taxi . . . drink at home . . . but drinking and driving is unforgivable.

Absolutely no sympathy for people who drink and then endanger innocent people's lives. Hang him from the highest tree!!

I can't count the number of families, lives, nor measure the pain I've seen caused by inebriated drivers. I can only weep for the widows, the widowers, the orphans, and the wheel chair bound caused by those viciously selfish people.

I have no sympathy for these killers and destroyers of lives, loves and dreams. Each of them should be given the opportunity to remain living--in jail. Forever.

One I remember poignantly. A little girl of about 10 years. A car snagged her foot with its bumper. Her heel was amputated. The drunk said, "I thought she was running faster." He blew .24. Today, 34 years later, the once young, happy, running-in-the-park girl, uses a motorized wheel chair, and has never been married. My regret is that I was unable to stop that man before he took the young girl's health away.

FOREVER: Jail.

The plates You are talking about having orange background with red letters. Often they are issued to people who have a reason to drive even after a DUI. For example to get to work or to go to the doctor. Many times preventing the vehicle from being operated creates a hardship on the family. These plates allow the vehicle to continue to be operated but it alerts law enforcement to special circumstances. Often the driver is issued a letter that goes along with the license plate indicating the restrictions, i.e. may drive to work or for medical reasons only.

My daughter had her best friend killed by a drunk driver when they were 8 years old. The girl was right in front of her house riding her bike when this stupid drunk drifted over and ran over her and killed her instantly and then just kept going. They finally arrested him and the courts were very lenient with him, why I just don't know, but they did. A year later he was driving drunk again and had a head on collision with a family of 5. This time he didn't kill anyone, but he managed to ruin their lives. The father was left with brain injuries for the rest of his life. The mother and daughter and son all had major face injuries and needed to have major surgeries for facial reconstuction and other major injuries. I think that time they finally locked him up, I don't know for sure how long his sentence was, but I think it should have been for life or even sentenced to death. I have absolutely no sympathy for drunk driving and if caught even once driving drunk they should loose their license and never be able to get it back. Also they should receive stiff penalties. Maybe that would wake these idiots up that think they can drive drunk and help to put a stop to this epedemic of drunk driving!

My prayers and deepest sympathy. I don't think there is anything worse than the loss of a child. My wife and I lost a baby, many years ago . . . our first son, who died shortly after birth. It still grieves me, 31 years later, and I never really knew him, as he was only hours old. I get so irate when I hear of a drunk, taking a life on the road . . . so senseless and so easily prevented.
