Need new front tires on 2010 RT - any recommendations?

It might have been about 900 to 916 per mile... I think!

Now... A 175/60R-14 runs about 906 per mile... MUCH closer!

I FOUND THE INFO!

185/55R-14 seems a bit "short" (22.01" versus the OEM's 22.44") :dontknow:
Is that too much of a difference for Nanny to accept without pitching a fit?

Bob, the difference in size between these two tires is a "whopping " ...19 revolutions per mile traveled (more). This is so insignificant because the OEM tire travels 926 revs per mile. Hope this allays any fears you may have had... annnnnnnnnnnnd this is my next front tire, it's "V speed rated" and can be had for around $75 at most places I looked... Mike

Motorcycle tires are high performance, softer and stickier. As a result, they don't last as long as car tires... MC tires are designed for increased traction with a larger contact patch. Use MC tires on a MC; Use car tires on a car. I use Bridgestone on my Prius. These are the hardest, least sticky tires I've been able to find. They have the least rolling resistance, and the smallest contact patch. I use motorcycle tires on my Spyder. My safety, even the little bit of marginal safety from the difference in tires... my safety is worth a lot more than a few dollars.

One thing though... These just ain't motorcycles! They actually react in most ways quite similarly to a subcompact car... :opps:
Bikes have very unique needs in tires due to how they turn...

Ok, I agree. But for me, I'm going to use the BRP recommended tires.

 And that's cool! I'm currently looking at a set of tront tires for my bike... The OEM Kendas have served me well; they're on the short list! :2thumbs:

I have the Potenzas which I had installed at 15000 miles in July.Since then I did a 4700 mile trip to Nova Scotia as well of lots of rydes and they are excellent.

ivor:f_spider:
Ivor, I am interested in your experience with the Bridgestone Potenzas.... After using them this much do you feel they are as good as the Kendas in ryding the twisties? and in the rain?

Thanks for any comments you can share about these since some folks seem to think the Kendas are better than any car tires.

Jack

Kenda makes tires for lawn movers, Atv's, golf carts, and a spyder, enough said.

Oem kendas

Dan, it's your life, do what you want - but if you don't know this ... KENDA'S are at the bottom of my preferred list of tires; and they're car tires (poor tho!) too! Mike

They actually do make "truck" tires...245/70R-15s...
who decided that they were at the bottom of the pile? :dontknow:

Bottom ? I don't recall anyone saying "Bottom" Bob. However, I equate "lawn mower tires", "golf cart", "wheel barrow" etc ...with less than a "V" speed rating!! And Bob, the 185/55-14 's Yokohama's I told you about are "V" rated and I'm not sure any of the others mentioned so far are - just sayin' ... Mike

Here you are, from post #29. I think I see you referring to Kenda's as being at the bottom.

What does a "V" rated tire give you when you put it on a vehicle that probably makes it to the "H" rating speed at best?

:dontknow::dontknow::dontknow:

How so what???
With all respect, why do you consider those tires to be deficient? Saying "but the company also makes wheelbarrow tires..." Or something similar is like telling me not to use Dial Soap because the company also makes dog food (yes, the company really does make both.)

What I am really asking is: "What is it about the tires that makes the tires deficient?"

Hi Dan,
The only thing that would make a tire "deficient"; should be an owner's personal unhappy experiences with it...
I wasn't happy with the Kenda OEM tire at the rear of the bike; that's why I'm trying other brands.
The fronts have behaved well-enough that they're still on my list...
But there are always options out there... And more than half of the fun is in the shopping! :D
