There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Don't drag the Boss 302!

I've never street raced my Spyder or any other motorcycle, and I've been riding street bikes since 1968. I've been involved in professional auto racing as an official (starter) since 1996 and raced a bit in my youth and I've never street raced a car, either.

I've also never taken my Spyder over 85 mph on the freeway...I usually cruise at around 70-75 (depending on conditions)...though I've gone much faster on bikes and cars on the track. 90, 95, 100 or more mph on the freeway...nope. And it pisses me off when other bikers do...it puts everyone in danger.

You wanna go fast, you wanna race...do it on the track. That's one of the reasons I've made it to 62.

:D
I have to second this motion. I served as a race official for many years, and still do occasionally. I also raced actively for 25-30 years, beginning in the early Sixties. There are too many things that can go wrong on the street, and no safety equipment there to back you up if something does. Save your antics for track days.....please!

I can understand people wanting to test the performance of their toys. I have been doing it since I was 10. There is a time and place for everything, though. (...and don't forget the safety gear.)

Speed and quickness are both relative, anyway. I once built a 100 cc bike with the goal of exceeding 100 mph at the drag strip...which I did. It was certainly slower than the fuel dragsters I had driven, but every bit as satisfying and as fun. Left the line like a jack-rabbit! To see a racer flinging a 50 cc or 125 cc bike around the course at Isle of Mann has always trilled me more than watching the big bikes...or today's Superbikes. There the man is more of the equation than the machine. There is more to the thrill of speed than the numbers. To me, 0-60 in 4.5 seconds just isn't much of a kick, once you have done it in a second or less it loses its edge. Even that did not feel as quick as my fuel bikes that only did it half as quickly. They had the greatest G-force effect of all, possibly due to the different seating position. It is all relative.

I guess I am wired differently. I just can't picture the Spyder, especially the RT, as "hot". I also have nothing to prove to a soul on earth. If I did, however, you could be sure that I would prove it on the track and not the street...and I probably wouldn't pick a Boss 302, Dodge Viper, Vette, or CBR600 as my opponent. Guess I'll go search out a Goldwing or a Rambler to put to the test. :roflblack:

Of course people are going to pull up to an RT and want to race. For the same reason pull up to "muscle cars" that obviously have a V-6 in them and want to race. I have never street raced my spyder, probably because I haven't had it that long, but I have raced snowmobiles on lakes and tracks. I have ridden all of the fastest sleds Ski-Doo has to offer since the day the first Mach "Zed" landed on our lawn in Jan 1993. I have played hard, and driven to fast, and lived through it all. May not have been the safest way to live life but I learned from it.
Two of the things I learned are:
1) No matter how fast you think you are, there is always somebody faster
2) There is only one "World's Fastest" snowmobile, and I doubt it resides in Chenango county (where I live)
I will tell you one thing, there is no law against accelerating quickly...............

Just sayin'............

I wish that was true but I've had a few tickets back in the day for just that, it's called "Exhibition of Speed". :lecturef_smilie:nojoke

In our neck of the woods it's called "excessive use of power" and it's a ticket with a hefty fine nojoke

Ummmm...I actually got a ticket for rapid acceleration in 82. I also got one moving into the right lane, behind a semi to let a car blow by me. The officer would have nothing to do with my defense that I wasn't the one speeding at 100 miles per hour up a 6% grade in my 92 Camry....4 cylinder! He said there was no other car. Of course not. He was going so fast he was a blur. They can give you a ticket for anything they want. Just sayin'......

The SpyderFest drag will no doubt be interesting. Too bad I won't be there.

You don't live in NY. I had a cop, ex-high school bully, try to write me a ticket for such Bull:cus: (show of speed). He asked the officer how I could have a show of speed and not break 30mph. Then asked him if my tires ever broke traction (answer was no). Then asked if my vehicle left the lane I was in w/o signaling to which the officer replied no, again. He threw the ticket out and said verbatim: "there is no law against accelerating quickly". I believe the judge, over you guys.

My Friend

I was not questioning you and your laws............
I said my neck of the woods

that's all was just sharing

I think all jurisdictions have an 'Exhibition of Speed' ordinance, regardless of what they call it where you live. Interpretation, as is always the case, is left up to the ticketing officer. But the primary ingredient is excessive acceleration. 'Excessive' is in the eye of the beholder.

One beholder has an opinion, the other has a ticket book. Good Luck!

Any monkey can go fast in a straight line. The RS is fun when the road gets twisty and the cars fade in your mirrors. Not that I've ever.. ... no.. ;)

Although speed is relative. The Spyder is slow compared to my two wheeled machines (well, 'cept the 250).

My apologies. I am always a little grumpy until the coffee kicks in.:opps:
I spent 12 weeks last summer in Portsmouth, building the new Trader Joe's there. Pretty area, couldn't get used to seeing motorcyclists on the road w/o helmets. I got to drive out to Nashua for some materials and the scenery is nice. I do like all the fireworks too nojoke

...And if the beholder has guns, badges, and tickets books; hang onto your britches!

It's real simple; if you don't give them a reason to look at you twice; they'll never have to ask for your license even once!

No worries! :ohyea:

people stop posting. i don't need my balls busted every which way for a 12 second drag race. bite me.

Who says anything about busting your balls? I was making fun of the stoplight racers in their cars who can't keep up when it gets curvy. To be honest I didn't even read your post.

Coz, no role model or example setter here and if truth was told would bet many would have to fess up to at least one hard twist of the throttle(while on public roads). just sayin.

Don't let it bug ya man!
