• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hot Spyder

I have a 2008 Spyder. I've read a lot of blogs about the heat from the bike. The heat that I am experiencing is not mainly my foot but my entire right leg. This makes for a hot ride in Georgia. Any suggestions from another rider who has actually resolved the problem?

:welcome:

Have you checked your 'Y' gaskets? The right one tends to burn out first. Its under the tupperware by your right calf.

I see you're new here. They "Y" gasket is nothing more then the exhaust gasket between the header pipe and the exhaust pipe. It's a new language here, you'll learn soon.

Thanks! No I haven't checked. I am having a service soon and I will mention it. I was stuck on those blogs about rerouting until I realized it was not my foot. Yes my Spyder is old but I won't get rid of it. I love it!!!!d

Yes, I'm new. I usually read and don't ask questions. Thanks that's something I can do myself & not with my service.

The answer is to get the SpyderPops Heat and Air Management package...Spyderpops is a forum sponsor here and most people who own the 08/09 Spyders have used this system to rectify the heat problem...

I logged on to order the kit this morning but I wanted to hear from others first. Most of the blogs spoke of heat to their lower leg & feet but my problem is slightly different.

:2thumbs: Thanks for all the help. I should have asked questions a long time ago. I'm liking this blog & even considering the Lady Spyder ride.

If you coming to Spyderfest, you need to go on the Ladies Ride. You won't regret it!

just me trying to help some moore the number he gave you on the honda gasket is because they are a much better gasket than the spyder one it will last longer and it fits just fine.now have fun and ask if you need help, this is the best form for people helping you will ever find':2thumbs:

Folks, the OP has an RT, from the pic on the avatar. The Honda gaskets are a fix for the RS. I don't remember hearing of any y-gasket failures for the RT, but if they do, the BRP gaskets have to be used, as far as I know.

I could use a little help because we rode to St Simons & I was on fire. I don't plan to ignite this summer.:chill:

I have the RS. I rode The Dragon on the RT (better control & bad weather). No problems with the heat on the RT.
