My Life Will Be Sad & Empty

Although I'm not a fan of this type of snack, I hate to see any company go out of business and employees lose their jobs. Long live Twinkies!!; just not in my house.

Hostess Brand

The right to manufacture and sell Hostess Brand products in Canada is not owned by Hostess. Several companies own different parts of the Hostess product line. Saputo owns the rights to the snack cake brands. So you will have to come to Canada for your snack cake fix. Sorry no Twinkies, not enough demand for them in Canada.

Haven,t had aTwinky in over 40 years!
I,m probably crazy but I live on Healthy salads , 100% Lemon Juice, Tuna, Kidney and chili beans , Yams, All types of vegetables and Chocolate -Peanut Butter Whey protein by the spoonful. :ohyea::yes:

Be careful of the tuna. Couple years ago a fellow got mercury poisoning from eating tuna. Once you got past the sensationalised headline the article did say he was eating 3 cans of white tuna a day!!!!

It seems like there is something bad about pretty much anything you eat to much of. Of course, some more obvious than others. :dontknow:

Me too! Had a chef's salad for lunch today. Well... it WAS one of those beautiful creations that you have to see to believe... It came in a mixing bowl that was the same diameter as a dinner plate. Stuffed to the top with an entire deli's worth of meats and cheeses..
But it was a salad, so it was healthy! :roflblack:

Even thought it might have been 7000 calories!

:agree:
Higher wages for management pay ( because they have to make more than their union counter parts )
40 hour work weeks.
Weekends off.

Yeah, these are the things that labor unions created a long, long time ago. You decide.

This is what shuts down America?

No, the lobbyist that promote child labor in Asian countries for pennies on the dollar is what shuts down this country.

I don't think striking on a company in bankruptcy is one of the smartest things these unions could do. You don't have much wiggle room or room for error trying to come out of bankruptcy.

Mgmt might be bad in this case, but the unions completely screwed up this time and now 18500 more people on the gov't payroll....er...our payroll.

[h=2]Management Ultimatum[/h]The Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union had gone on strike Nov. 9 and disrupted production and deliveries, ignoring amanagement (IBCIQ) ultimatum to return to work by 5 p.m. Nov. 15. The bosses weren’t bluffing -- they halted production and sought liquidation, warning that brands and their recipes may be snapped up by bargain-seeking corporations, but workers and many antiquated plants wouldn’t be.

True, I'll give you that. When the co. is down you don't hit it. I just got worked up on a previously mentioned 'all around' issue about unions in general. The UAW and the big three learned this years ago. We all work together to make a profitable product with a reasonable selling price.

For what its worth. I stopped into a combo shell gas station/ A & W today. All the hostess products were cleaned off the shelf except for 2 bags of donettes, and 4 danish rolls. None of the good stuff left.

Only fools will fight in a burning house...

Hostess was talking about shutting down bakeries and Chapter 11 well over a year ago. I think the "powers that be" used the strike as an excuse to shut down for final liquidation and used the workers as scapegoats.

I heard Twinkies are selling for $100 a box on Ebay!!! Really???!!!! Where's a box of Twinkies when I need one????!!!!!! ;)

That's easy; they're on EBay for $100! :yikes:
But nobody looks for "an excuse" to shut down a company of this size and employment levels...

I meant a box for ME to sell for $100!!!! :roflblack:

I just read that the CEO of Hostess just gave himself a 300% pay raise, while trying to cut his employee's pay and benefits. That's why I say "an excuse". Maybe "convenient" would be a better word? I don't know. The whole thing sounds kinda fishy to me. I do agree that they could have picked a better time to strike!! Eeesh!!!

Maybe we could start a "Save The Twinkie" campaign???!!! :D

Soo your salad was more unhealthy than 2 Whoppers and a Large Fry smoothered in Ketchup with extra salt!!:yikes:

I make 4 salads every four days they each have-
1-Green Leaf Lettuce ( Lots of it)
2-1/4 Cucumber
3-1/2 Banana
4-1/2 Red Grapefruit cut in pieces! ( Great in salads)
5-1/2 Tomatoe
6-Strawberries
On top Lemon juice, Mrs. Dash, and Apple Cider vinegar.

Costs about $4 a day and keeps the Doctor away!!!!!!:roflblack:
