There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Yup! Don't leave home without it! Florida CWP. Better to have than not. Sounds like we could pretty well protect ourselves if the Indians attacked during a spyder gathering! LOL!

I don't usually carry, but if I'm traveling somewhere that is a potential issue, it is with me.

I got my permit about 12 years ago after my 17 year old son, along with my 14 year old son and their 15 year old female cousincousin were held up at gunpoint by a young punk at gunpoint in broad daylight at a busy mall parking lot. When a turd headed punk puts a gun in my sons gut and steals his wallet, gifts and keys next to his car, it made me stop and think about things.
If this happens to me, I may be prepared to defend myself, and I won't hesitate to use deadly force to protect myself or my loved ones.

Reality is a real eye opener. Sorry this happened to your family.

The traffic stop on an elderly lady the other day for speeding on U.S. 166 Eastbound at Mile Marker 73 just East of Sedan, KS. He asked for her driver's license, registration, and proof of insurance. The lady took out the required information and handed it to him.In with the cards he was somewhat surprised (due to her advanced age)to see she had a conceal carry permit. He looked at her and asked if she had a weapon in her possession at this time. She responded that she indeed had a .45B automatic in her glove box. Something---body language, or the way she said it---made him want to ask if she had any other firearms. She did admit to also having a 9mm Glock in her center console. Now he had to ask one more time if that was all. She responded once again that she did have just one more, a 38 special in her purse.

He then asked her what was she so afraid of.

She looked him right in the eye and said, "Not a damn thing!"

I do. Either a .45 or a 380. Have had a CWL in Texas since they offered it and because of Texas laws, it has reciprosity in most states that allow. Only once have I needed it on my bike and that was several years ago in New Mexico. Merely showing what I had (.45) a truck load of kids left me alone on a road when I had stopped to put on rain gear. I was on my Goldwing at the time.

I travel alot and it just gives me a secure feeling.

I would if I could shot straight but with essential tremors i'd need a shotgun to hit my target and thats hard to carry on a :f_spider:!!

Just goes to show, you can't read a book by it's cover.

Scares the ***** out of me to think of people carrying guns. Albeit, those who post here seem level headed enough.

Unfortunately there are many citizens who are not. For those cases, I am happy living up North in Canada where we don't condone people walking around lawfully carrying firearms. Nor the need to feel as if you require one to protect your family.

I 100% understand there are reasons you carry, I just prefer to live in a world without those reasons.
More time to enjoy my life without knowing a world of death.

I think I'll go roll one and spend time with loved ones.

Yeah, but....

"Well--- I personally find his "Sheep, Wolves and Sheepdogs" stereotyping of humans to be asinine and ignorant.....as if life is that simple..... I for one...do not fall specifically into any of those categories --- thank you very much."

While obviously life overall is not that simple, in some situations the analogy does fit. I'm reminded of a time when I was a Captain on NOFD, there was a Lutheran convention in town and a large group of Lutheran teens had volunteered to work in the community cleaning up a ghetto neighborhood. While these kids were busting their a__ picking up garbage and pulling weeds, there was a group of locals, not much older, watching over them and just waiting for one to wander off from the pack. It was like watching a National Geographic special, and the sheep, wolves, and sheepdogs were an obvious comparisom.

Oh, and YES.

Ill join you...

Exactly my sentiments.

Ilove agood post about handguns that can stay unlocked, lets hope it last awhile.

Myself, have always opposed a CCW, permits to protect myself don't need that if you open carry. In Durango, I only had one person ask me about my side arm, other than a few looks, as always it's no big deal. Don't drink so no bars, don't gamble so no casinos, in my community locals ask me where my gun is if they don't see it on me lol.

Seems to me hardly a week goes by with out a news report of someone walking into a business of some sort and shooting the darn place up. Do you sit in a restraunt with your back to the door, I won't. Been around for 64 yrs an never had to us a gun yet, hopeing for the 46 to be the same. It's just now I know longer can beat a man till he pees his pants, how I miss the good old days

[I carry ever where I go out it's there when I need it( guns don't kill people People kill people. a gun is the last choice you can say:shemademe_smilie:lol or :helpsmilie:

YES I DO

As a matter of fact I just renewed my concealed carry permit this month now I am good for another 5 years. I have been carrying for 20 years and I have not had to shoot anyone yet. I hope it goes well for the next 20 years. It is just like ins. would rather have it and not need it then to not have it and need it. I might ad that I was a Firearms instructor for 15 years, give it up last year.

condone?? you have more gun owners than every other country besides us and china?? I have had 10 deaths in beltrami co when I have been working this year (which is on 125 miles from canada), 3 have been old people, 2 have been overweight diabetics, 2 have been drownings and the last 3 have been motor vehicle accidents. So you this by carrying a gun you are going to run into death? I have been deployed to bosina where the serbs took the right to have guns from the bosina's that were musliums then systematically raped, tortured and killed them all with the end result of throwing a group of 10000+ into a vat at a battery factory. We are our own worse enemy as humans and we will always find a way to kill each other no matter what is around.
With all the people just in this post how many have gotten into a shoot out with their evil GUNS ever? I don't get along with everyone on this sight and I carry 99% I am riding so by your view someone on here should have shot someone else over scuffing someone else's fender.

As far as crime being lower due to more people carrying.... the stats actually don't show much difference between areas where more carry as compared to areas where people don't.... no real proof either way. I personally believe we've matured as a society.

Agree 100% on proper training... and CONTINUED training. One of my big concerns is guns being easily stolen... you read about it all the time in the paper---- someone's house gets broken into while they are not home and a bunch of guns get stolen......because they weren't locked up.....:banghead: I just don't get it.. if yer home then obviously you want them loaded and ready to go--- but when you leave---- lock em' up.

Same concern transfers to traveling with them on motorcycle. My one HD buddy didn't have any area he could lock it in... so he had to lock it on one of the other guys bikes with hard bags when we were in areas where you couldn't carry.. on the ferry, while drinking in bars, etc....

On the plus side... and I could see this as a good reason to carry..... new federal laws that have expanded gun owners rights just last year now allow you to carry in the National Parks... and we did come across a momma grizzly and her two cubs.. of course most of what one would carry would just tick her off during a confrontation...:roflblack:

Dan and I have conversed this with Jim as well. Dan is very unique in his video of the right to something he does not do, which I wish more people in this country would do more of.
As far as the stats that is just reported crime ( sexual assault is one of the most unreported crimes there is and one of the most violent IMHO) also that is just this country and citizens of this country, drug mules and drug trafficers don't report much crime that does happen here.

Also American society is very rarely exposed to violence compared to just 50 years go UNLIKE damn near the rest of the world. We are becoming rome, a paper tiger, eventually (quicker than anyone wants) someone is going want what we have and we are no longer going to have the "I want it right now" lifestyle we have now.

to answer the post I have a HK usp 9mm, having a T5 feeling and being in a wheelchair make my days of fighting people off over for now. There is several posts in here that reflect the right attitude about carrying a firearm, have good training, continue to train and if you don't feel comfortable with he responsibility then do not do it.

I am a 911 dispatcher and have been told I am pretty good at it and I can tell you if a party kicks your door in at 2am and you call us the only we are going to do is clean up the mess and hopefully find out who did it after your dead, cops just clean up the mess, barring a miraculous timing issue.
