• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The spyder wave

ARCTIC

My friends and I were chuckling about this the other day. When motorcyclists meet each other on the road they give each other the downward and angled 2 fingered peace sign and my friends claim there's 2 fingers extended for 2 wheels on the ground. Soooo..... I think it's only proper that all spyder and trike riders throw down 3 fingers when meeting each other on the road. What do ya think? New spyder wave?:2thumbs:

I think you are describing the "V TWIN" wave - Harley people can be protective of that one ;)

Ya - three (like a Y?) or all five fingers extended (like a :spyder2: but with a couple legs missing)

I don't know anything about the Harley wave, we are former sport bike riders, and wave to all riders with no special design. Just don't forget the scooter riders, they need a wave too, :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
We are also long time corvette owners and wave to all vet owners ( no special wave with them either ):):):):)

Jeep folks wave all the time also... So you can say I am a busy :spyder2: & jeep waiver.:yes: always a "peace" sign for me :cheers:

I wave to all 2 or 3 wheelers out on the field of battle ... although the certain riders who dont wave deserve one finger wave ;P . HA

Does anyone really look THAT closely to see what kind of wave someone is giving them?

I sure don't.... I keep eyes on the road... give a kind of 2-finger with thumb out.. low 'wave'. I can see the other person wave --- out of my peripheral vision.

And nope--- I don't wave to mopeds... ugh..... ;-)

I actually do notice the different waves, sad but true and I asked my husband what they mean and he just says it is a personal choice. I usually give 2 fingers unless I am shifting and then I give a nod of the head. :banghead:

I wave to everyone, But I'm careful about waving to someone if their on a curve.
A few month's ago i gave a first wave to a woman on a Spyder, She got so giddy :yes: about a Harley waving first that she starting waving back so hard that she almost lost it.:dontknow:

Bwahaha:roflblack::roflblack:

That is friggen hilarious!!! That would be a tough one to accomplish on short notice. Maybe your passenger could toss that one out for ya:thumbup:

Good idea :thumbup: :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

I've been doing the wave since the late '70s and never paid any attention to how many fingers were displayed (well, with "one" exception...;)). It was just something bikers shared when passing. That's the way I still look at it.

Similar to other--we do the wave--but don't pay attention to how many fingers etc. I usually extend my hand--all fingers.

I really don't see the point, but don't want to be rude either. It does seem I too often have to think about whether ot not I can take me left hand off the grip to wave back. Too often people wave when I'm sitting at a light holding the clutch and they are zipping by.

Not wanting to make a bad spyder impression, I end up raising two fingers up, leaving the others on the clutch, so I end up flashing the peace sign instead.

Oh well, not the first time I've come off as societies reject! I have thought about the three finger salute, but that may be a recipe for a butt whoopin'!

"spider" / ASL American Sign Language

You must work for BRP. They'd get to sell a lot more parts and new bikes if we all started the "sign language" salute. I have initiated a wave in curves many times.
Probably a real good idea to stop that habit.

Tuck:yikes:

My elitist Spyder better than thou ego doesn't allow waving, acknowledgement, or any joviality of any sort. I m just out there enjoying myself, and only myself! Sorry..:yikes::hun:

OOPS! HOLD THE PHONE!! That's how I used to act when I owned that Made in USA with foreign parts motorcycle! :roflblack::joke::yes:

Back on topic: (having donned flame-retardant suit..:pray:)

I leave the waving up to my wonderful spouse who usually has a free hand, unless she is taking pictures/ videos, phone talking/texting,eating, drinking, yelling at me about some aspect of my not good enough driving skills, ad nauseum.

So, bottom line, we don't wave much! LOL..but I do nod at passing wavers. I'm not one for taking hands off of handlebars, unless it's for a good reason, like grabbing coffee cup while negotiating a sharp turn/passing a truck! :>D

That's cool too! :thumbup:
Nobody ever siad that waving was a requirement; just an acknowledgemnt to other like-mided souls...
