• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

So what did you take home from Spyderfest?

I know a lot of folks spent a lot of money in Cuba MO and the surrounding areas and I didn't really keep track of what I spent exactly but it was more than I thought I would. I enjoyed leaving some of my cash in a town that treated us so well and I was just wondering how the rest of you did. Here's what I can remember. :doorag:

  • bear skull- $500.00
This is the bear and another skull, I got the bigger one.

When I was at the Outpost with the big Rocking Chair I saw a really nice bear skull on the fire place mantle and I asked how much it was. The gal said it wasn't for sale and it was the owners. She then said she could call the owner and ask and I said cool, she hung up and said it was not for sale and if he did sell it he would have to get $500 for it. I said fine, I'll take it.:doorag: The gal looked at me like I was crazy but you have to understand that I go to all these events and I never bring my wife back anything because she is really hard to buy for. The one thing she has a passion for is skulls  and she had two bear skulls already but this one looked a lot bigger. Turns out it wasn't much bigger but she still liked it I think. When I was at Devils Tower last year I brought here back an alien skull and she loved it.

  • Hoody and decals- $100+
While at the Outpost I stocked up on Route 66 decals and I bought a Route 66 hoody. It's really a neat little shop and I feel I was just doing my part to make sure it will be there next year. :doorag:

  • Headsets- $400-The only thing I got from the vendors were some Sena SMH10 headsets with two earbud adapters. I have the Cardo Sala Rider now and they work great when they pair up but I can't always get them to pair up right away and I've heard nothing but good things about the Sena's. I have yet to try them but plan on it soon.

I guess between fuel, hotel, food and miscellaneous I dropped another $1000 bucks or so. I will say it was worth every dime I spent just to be with you all and to get a nice little ride in. This is therapy to me and it was much needed at the time. So I took home very little material wise but mental health wise I took home a lot. Believe it or not I need some more therapy asap. I can't wait to get on the road to the Owners Event in Durango CO.

We are living on a pretty limited retirement income so for us just going is pushing the limits of the budget but we did try to buy something at each of the passport stops like a snack or drink or a meal. I did come home with some really neat prizes though. I won the Diamond R Passenger Armrests and a pair of leather CanAm riding pants! From Vendor Village I got the Spyderpops Bump/Skid thing. We bought 2 of the Spyderfest or Bust tshirts so that Len and Vanessa can send the kids to college.

Wish I could have brought home a couple hundred gallons of that cheap MO gas!

I brought home new friends that I know know in person, tons of CNC ideas, and a better understanding of what to expect in the future. Did I get much else? Not really, I got some shirts :) (cause I need more tshirts [not hardly])

And I passed out several drinks and some whiskey from Chattanooga while I was out there.

The one thing I am sure of is that I met Hotglue, and his whiskey is stronger than I am, and his flask is about the most Bad@$$ thing I have seen in some time.

Turns out, everything is bigger in Texas.

All that I got was a Spyderfest T-shirt, hat and bandana...........the :spyder: got all it's goodies added by Cowtown prior to Spyderfest. (Elka's, custom paint, and graphics).:2thumbs:.................oh yeh............lots of new Spyderlover friends. Priceless!

You know I forgot to get a shirt from the event. nojoke:banghead:

Post 400

I had a great time Lamont, I had my doubts about the mental therapy aspect of the trip but I am a believer. I did not spend quite as much as I had hoped to since the flag holders for the RT where out of stock the day before I decided to buy them, but I did get some patches put on my jacket, some wine from two of the stops on the passport run, a small fortune was spent at the glass factory (got an octopus), and I got some more lights from Reggy. I had a great time and look forward to seeing everyone on the road again soon. Oh one of my favorite things is the Welcome Ryders banner that is hanging in my office, $40

Wow! I didn't buy a bike but I did buy the trailer. A few wearwares, the SENA comm set (works great btw). My wife bought a new jacket and pants, some bling, wine, etc. I wanted to get that flag LED from TricLED but they were sold out, there and on the web. Reggie did replace my fender light that were giving me problems. Very good service in vendor city. And Cowtown gets huge kudos from our house for the enormous work they and the MoGang did.

Inner panel Baker Air Wings, Dash Skin, rear Elka, Butler cup holder and Gizmo Adapter, 1 bottle of Evan Williams Honey, 1 Bottle of Wild Turkey Cherry with a few samples at the Outpost, the wife got a Route 66 Cap and Hoody as well as some Spider jewelry from the Wagon Wheel. Got in at Moe Hicks twice for some awesome pulled pork . But my favourite thing I took from SpyderFest was 2nd place Trophy for my RT.

Just a side note-I would never go to SpyderFest without going to Route 66 Outpost and thought it strange it wasn't an offical passport stop although I did get the girl to sign my passport ?

Rode out on 2 2008 RS's (hubby and me). Made an appointment for new shocks and then started looking at the beautiful RTs in the showroom. We felt like Len was giving us a great deal so.........we rode back on a Spyderfest special SE5 and blue Performance Package RTs. I think we may hold the record for spending. Don't regret the decision even though we'll be eating ramen noodles until next Spyderfest

I went to SpyderFest knowng I would get the some things from SpyderPops--air damp/air management/missing heat shield, and I also ended up with Elka shocks (a surprise from my hubby). Plus a variety of t-shirts, hats, and personal bling (necklace, pins, shirt, etc.).

I brought home great memories of fun rides, uber nice people, new friends, and a wish the event wouldn't end so soon. LOL

Made reservations for next year and already marked my calendar to be there a full week instead of 5. Plan on being more active in MO Gang volunteers than what I was this year, which was not much. However, hubby did a lot of behind the scenes things that helped the venders and event run smoothly..

SpyderFest ROCKS!

Spyder Stuff

Spyderpops heat control (planned in advance). Ultimate seat (not planned but looked too good to pass). Gas and restaurants throughout the area. Had a great time and can't wait for next year!

Dang, wish my wife was that easy to shop for...

I didn't do as well as last year, when I brought home my RT-622, but we did try to contribute around the area, in addition to food and lodging and attraction gate fees. We got a BumpSkid, T-shirts, a sweatshirt, wine, ornaments, souvineers, and some handblown glass. Not sure how much we spent. A number of things were purchased along the passport runs, so I think it served a purpose other than riding some fine roads.
