• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

glow rider wheel light

My son and I both have them on 09 RS's. They work great but best on a shiny silver stock wheel, not so good on flat black. They really light up the wheel and a section of the road below the wheel. Battery life is pretty good but it will gradually get darker as the batteries run down. We get about 4 to 6 weeks on regular use. They have both a light and movement sensor so they don't run during the day. They will also stay on for about 2 or 3 min when you stop for a light at night. We have the amber color lights, check with the local cops as to blue, green, or red as these are reserved for police, ambulance and fire rescue in some areas.

GloRyders

I've had the amber lights on my Spyder for about a year now and I think they're great! The only downside is that you have to check occasionally to make sure the batteries are good. Each one uses 3 AA batteries. But they work fine....only on when moving AND when it's dark!

Installation

thanks for the replies. I would get pink ones .. are they difficult to install

Level of difficulty can be subjective. For me, if I recall correctly, they were relatively easy....like maybe a '2' on a scale of 1 to 10. I don't recall any issues....but it has been over a year.

Regarding battery life, I've only replaced my batteries twice in the year I've had them. But I don't do a lot of night riding and that will obviously make a big difference.

I just ordered a set...

I just ordered a set of Blue Glow Ryders last Saturday.
But I see mentioned about the color might not be legal.

Where would you search for the rules for your State (Texas)? Or is it a City thing (Houston)?

Thanks.

If I was you, I'd change the color of the GloRyders if you can...I would definitely stay away from blue and red...it's not just the state you live in but states you might ride in. We heard someone got a ticket at Spyderfest for having blue lights (don't know if that was just a rumor or not; also don't know if it was GloRyders or LEDs). Many states don't allow blue/red other than on law enforcement vehicles.

We've had our GloRyders for quite some time and haven't had to change out the batteries yet. We've got white ones on our Spyder and pink ones on my Mini. The pink ones have a purplish hue to them.

They have already been shipped

I wonder if it's possible to change out the lights inside the unit.

I wish I would have thought about that before I ordered, but I was so excited about the new Spyder. (Only 250 miles so far)

I got them for my 08 GS and I love them. I got purple and they are not very bright. They were easy to install, make sure you watch the video. Look me abou 30 minutes to do both tires.

Thanks

ScooterExpress, thanks for the update.
The insert are on the webiste? Or did you make some yourself.

Love this forum, it's been so much help.
And now I'm glad to have a Spyder so I can post instead of just reading! (As I have for way too long.:))

I have had blue for several years, GS/RT no problems with LEO (Law Enforcement Officials. They do have a "stay on" feature, but I do not know why except for a show. The info sheet explains it with install instructions. Not long or hard to install.

just call them and tell them what you want when i called they told me just call us i didnt look on the website for the inserts but it was easier to call and ask i thought if i got tired of blue i might go to red or green or something. heck for only 35 bucks i might get a couple of different colors.

GloRyder Install

Caution if you put them on while your wheel is off. You may not be able to get your lug wrench past them to tighten the lug bolts on. This happened to me. I had my wheel off putting on some fender lights and decided to put my GloRyders on. Had to take them off so I could get my wheel back on. No real problem putting them on while they are on your :spyder2:, just seem like it would be easier if I put them on while they were setting flat on my work bench.

Hey Sue!

My wife and I want to get them as well, however are concerned about the legality issues here in Toronto.

Have you been provided confirmed info into that? Please share if so.

Thx!

derek
