Bottoming out

This is a bit of an offshoot of my halo lighting thread. But what can be done to prevent the RT from bottoming out on the center frame whilst going over speed bumps? I doubt I am the only one with this issue. My shocks are one notch down from maximum according to the display, though I don't have the powered shock adjustment feature so I don't know if that is accurate.

Sop you have to add the air yourself to the shock? I normally run about 64 psi in mine while ryding double and it's never touched down over a speedbump... What psi levels are you using?

Yeah. Have t do it manually. Haven't checked the pressure. I'll do that when I get home. Rode double with my wife last week. Going into the MGM hotel parking lot we hit pretty much every single speed bump. Was really starting to piss me off.

Mine leaks a little bit; so yours might too... I pump it up to the aforementioned 64 psi level ( On the supplied BRP air gauge) and will ride for a couple of weeks. By the time I'm ready to go under the seat again it's done to around 40 psi... :gaah:

I found the same problem on a cross country trip this summer. I had never checked the pressure either but found the air bag had a leak and went to 0 within a few days.
Dealer replaced under warranty and I haven't had any trouble since.

Speed bumps are also a problem with my RTS. I crawl over them as carefully as possible. I also try to avoid bolts that are sticking above the concrete pieces they bolt down.

I always have trouble bottoming out on speed bumps on my 2011 RT audio but have never checked the psi in my shock....thanks to these posts, I checked today and it was at 0...ran it up to 60 psi and cleared the speed bumps in my subdivision at 25 mph with no trouble......this web site is a true gold mine of knowledge! Will check with the dealer if it loses pressure again.........:clap:

Check again soon. It should never be allowed to go below 10 psi. A number of systems have had leaks. There have been loose valve cores, leaking plumbing, and bad air bags. If yours won't hold air, check the valve core. If that doesn't do it, see your dealer.

Good news. I checked my suspension today and found it was set at a measly 20 psi. I did like the squishiness of the ride, but I pumped it up to 70 psi. Handling improved dramatically, and I feel like I'm riding a good 2-3 inches higher than before. I actively tried to bottom out a couple times on a bump today that i would sometimes hit on and couldn't. :clap: Looks like its time to order my halo kit! My only complaint about forums is that answers dont come at chat speed! I keep pounding refresh looking for replies.

Bottoming

Had a similar problem coincident with other drivers flashing their headlights at me at night. Turned out to be a combo of perished compressor and a leaky shock. There have been posts about leaky schrader valves as well. My entire works ,shock and compressor and plumbing were replaced under warranty. Now the Spyder "spits" as it should.

Mine leaks really bad.. I can air it up an in 2 hours it has lost it all.. I am takeing mine to the dealer the week after Thanksgiving to get it fixed..
