• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What is a good insurance company for Spyder? We were shocked at prices and differences. Need inexpensive coverage with good company.

Foremost and Progressive are often mentioned companies for spyders. Prices vary enormously even by company by the region you live in. There isn't any simple national answer to your question. Just be sure that your "inexpensive" coverage isn't "cheap" coverage i.e. coverage that costs less because the benefits are dramatically less. shop "apples to apples" on the coverage and check several carriers or get an independent agent to do that for you and show you the spreadsheet of results. Good luck

I can't say what is the best. I can only say that I have Progressive in the State of Florida and it is $409.25 per year (if paid in full up front) Might add that I don't know whether it made any difference or not, but this was paid in conjunction with AAA homeowners and car policies.

Dairyland gave me the best price on motorcycle insurance even though I am a longtime customer with Geico, Geico could not beat Dairyland. Dairyland also beat Allstate, and Foremost, and Progressive.

I went with Allstate full coverage 100-300 thousand 500 deductable and my ins. went down from my Harley by 100.00 I now spend 236.00 per year for my spyder 2010 RT-S in Calif.

Beryl, insurance is priced many different ways. Like, where you live (zip code), coverage needed, number of vehicles with the company, homeowners ins, driving record etc. Like they say, the lowest cost may not be the best.

As Bikerdoc said earlier, make a list of your needs, shop around via the 800 number, apples to apples.

Just a word on insurance,
With all the UN insured, and UNDER insured drivers out there, Make sure you have high enough coverage not just the minimum!!
It doesn't cost much more.:2thumbs:

Insurance rates

I think I have DARIYLAND ins, and I have had no tickets of anykind, They charge a buck a day, even thought it sets for the winter months, I hope that helps,

First of all, :welcome:

The others have you covered pretty well above. There are many things that cause insurance rates to vary from person to person, state to state, etc.

My take on insurance. Cheapest is not always the best. You get what you pay for. The proof of good insurance is when it comes time that you have a claim--do they pay you--or do they try to get out of paying?

I have all my insurance with a local broker--who knows me, and my insurable interests. When I have a problem, I can call him, and it gets taken care of--with no hassles.

Since I have 2 motorcycles, 1 car, and my house with the same company, I get a bundle package with as my discounts as I am entitled to.

I have been a customer of State Farm since 1964, and I have kept them as I moved from state to state.

I have Geico and pay I think about 370 per year now...this is for the highest amount of coverage you can get. If you have homeowner, business, car, etc... insurance with the same carrier, you'll save on insuring your spyder...

I know firsthand from dealing with insurance carriers on the medical side...Geico is first-rate...

Sadly, I'm gettin raked with my insurance-- both GEICO and Progressive quoted me $900 :yikes:, I ended up sticking with GEICO.

Of course, I think having my first car fender-bender in 22 years less than a month before I got my bike didn't help matters ;). (I rear-ended at 10 mph a woman who SLAMMED on her brakes on an on-ramp... because she dropped her phone. But yeah, technically, that's MY fault... grrrrr!!).

Anyway... I sure hope that rate comes down for me when I renew.

No, your recent issue shouldn't affect the price...believe it or not. Plus, you'd have accident forgiveness anyway if it was your first issue in 22 years...I have Geico and I'm just up the road from you...I don't know why your premiums are so much, but you should question this...they can't base them on your recent crash...

Hey man, leave me to my fantasy!

I left out the obvious, REAL reason: all my motorcycle experience was, ummm, not entirely official before this year, i.e. I'm a newly-licensed rider. Even at the ripe ol' age of 36, with a GEICO car policy, AND passage of the MSF course, again, both GEICO and Progressive quoted me that same crazy price (really-- they were shockingly within ten dollars of the other, 'twas eerie). I could have kept shopping around at that point, but I got lazy/impatient.
It only costs me $600 a year to insure my car in comparison. :gaah:

Anyway, I'm paid off for the year, but I'll definitely worry about getting a MUCH better bargain next spring.

Oh, and RE: accident forgiveness, I know they have it, but how does that work in practice? I figured it means they wouldn't dump me from the policy-- GEICO use to *love* doing that to people not to long ago, one accident covered and you're outta there-- or, at best, they wouldn't jack up the price on my *car* policy.

I figured that when getting a whole new policy for a whole new type of vehicle, they *would* consider my recent driving history (and again, Progressive independently gave me the same rate with the same information provided, it wasn't like THEY were going to forgive an accident I had under my GEICO policy).

I can add nothing to this...

I shopped around and State Farm was the cheapest for me. Too bad USAA doesn't do its own Motorcycle insurance.

Esurance??? You've got nonody there to help with anything if an issue pops up... (Accident, claims settlement, a disputed payment...) A local Insurance Professional is there for you when the "butter" hits the fan... :yikes:
