• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Home Safe thread. Everyone sound off.

Made the 663 miles home yesterday to beat the storms today. Had the best time imaginable.

Thanks to Lamont, Pops, BRP and all the wonderful folks I had the pleasure of meeting. A special shout out to ElkSpyder, tofriendscreek, Mr Orange and Dan.

We finally made it home ..a day late.. due to a flat tire on the car, I-77 flooded and closed in West Va......
We had a great time can't wait till the next event.

Miss Shelly Kitty and I got home safe and sound

As Spyderduck said, we went through a good bit of rain, but what's some rain when you ride a spyder?:2thumbs: Out of the 300 miles, 250 of them were soggy. Ordered a new rain suit when I got home. Kinda hate to retire mine, been through 13 states now.

That's what you get for trailering the Spyder!

If you rode the Spyder down that won't have happened!:roflblack:

DaGrlz are home

We were in our Froggtogg's the whole time and only needed them for maybe a total of 15 minutes in an 8 hour drive. We had an amazing time can't wait for next year!

Yesterday we got almost to I40 before we had to stop and wait for the heavy rain to pass (we should have stayed in bed) the day ended with nice weather in Indy and a nice dinner with friends. This morning Indy was under water and it took us a long time to get out of there. Had rain all the way to South Bend and it was cold to boot. But once the rain quit it got warm pretty fast.

We had a great time and met some really great people. Can't wait to get together with everyone again.

Back home wet but safe today. My round trip was a total of 1,402 miles, on the return trip I made an over night stop to visit my doughter and grandkid in Virginia Beach. The trip was fun but long due my inexperience doing long rydes. I truely enjoyed meeting all the nice people that I often read about on this forum. Had the pleasure to share some conversation and time with a few of you. Love to do it again sometime, but on flat terrain :roflblack:

made it home

Made it home (only a couple of hours from Maggie valley)over in east tennesssee. Two thirds good ride, one third a downpour. The wife's rain suit leaked bunches. time for a new one.

Got back from Maggie Valley, NC area this morning about 12:40 am. No rain coming home. Lots of sun and the temp at it's highest yesterday was 104 degrees. Even warmer on Black. Doc and I got separated after dinner. Maggie Valley, the surrounding area and the twisties was an experience I very much look forward to enjoying again in the hopefully not too far distant future. I have a few pics to download later~

Posted it elsewhere, too, but here's a recap. Still on the road taking the long way home. Problems with Spyder, RT-622, GPS, and logistics, but nothing disabling. Home toward the end of the week or beginning of next. Will check in when we finally land. We, too, are sick of our rain gear!

I made it home yesterday at around 2 PM. As Schultzi said, we left in a drizzle, hit a little heavier rain, but then things cleared up around the Asheville area, just some really strong winds. I left the cool rain of Maggie Valley and arrived to record heat and humidity with a 105 heat index. Gotta love living in the south.

I had a great time meeting everyone I did at the event. I also appreciate all of the comments about my Spyder. The contest results are what they are, and it looks like I will have to come up with some new ideas for next year. :D Any suggestions beyond turning it into a hover craft are welcome. :roflblack:

How about an amphibious vehicle? A time machine? A Spyder that runs on milk, moonshine, urine... pick your liquid of choice? A machine that Doc can't destroy? How about a different vehicle entirely, and just say that it is a Spyder...a Hummer, perhaps, or a Learjet? Maybe we can find the Cube, and turn it into a real Decepticon! :joke:

All jokes aside, I'm sure you'll come up with something; you're very creative. If there is anything I might be able to help with, just let me know. I'm glad you are home safe; I am grateful to have made a new friend in you.

The rain was thick

OH WELL-----Left at 6am got on Hwy 40 east had to get off at the first rest stop. Six hundred miles and 14 hours later home at last.

In Tennessee they call it rain-------in Missouri they call it
water boarding---it was not good. It took 3 hours of riding in the rain to get to Knoxville.

I rode up and back with Spydermonkey4 Brenda is brand new to spyders---her first bike and after only 600 miles she is on this adventure.
What a first experience------not one complaint-- the most comment about rain was oh well a smile and shrugging her shoulders. Brenda heard about Deb and Brian's "3 days 3 lakes" ride in Michigan and wants to go.
She is more than welcome to ride with me.
I had a great time at BRP's party now I am looking forward to August in the UP (Upper Peninsula)

It was good meeting you FireFly... I am still waiting for you to explain the RT throttle body adjustment screws...

We arrived home fine yesterday afternoon, but would you believe I stumbled on the bottom step of stairs in our home today, and ended up in the emergency room tonight. After a lot of severe pain & xrays I feel lucky there was no broken bones, but the full leg brace I have now will slow me down for a while. I hope to be ryding with the left leg propped up in just a few days!

Spent most of Sunday enjoying the ride and views from the windows on the Great Smokey Mountain Railroad. Pretty neat trip. Left Cherokee area around 4 PM and rode north through Smokey Mountain National Park with lots of stops for pictures. Then endured the horrors of traffic and carnival atmosphere of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. On northward around Knoxville and Lexington, KY, stopping short of Louisville after midnight. Home at 5 PM yesterday after traveling the backroads of western IN and central IL.
And the whole trip was made without a drop of rain! :D
Sorry to hear so many had to fight the elements, but so glad to hear about everyone making the trip safely.

Spent Sunday lazing about in Maggie Valley.

Left Monday and stayed in London Ky.

Arrived home Tuesday (today) at 1:15 after a leisurely ride up I-75.

1150 miles at 36.15 MPG. Not a drop on the way home. :2thumbs:

Gene, I'm glad you two made it home safe. Brenda is a trooper she went from newbie to hard core biker in one trip!

Both Tina and I are home safe, sound and TIRED.

I'm still tired and I went to bed early and got up late. Tired means we had a lot of fun.

Next time I want to ride with you. I don't know how you made it through Indiana without getting wet.

we made it home, safe, sound, soaked and sweaty; around 6:15 pm EST. started out in the storm on Sunday morning, rode the Dragon in the rain, met Spyder Rider and his Daughter at the dam overlook, then rode the bottom half with them, all the way to Maryville, TN. after some misguided GPS readings on my part, we rode off into the steamy sunset; and were glad to sleep in our own beds.
