• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Cleaning Spyder

The 30 to 60 minute ryde is old school. Use to do that for car but cops got excited if I drove to fast. As for cleaning, I have a 100 pressure washer from Home Depot, soap and I stand away from the :spyder2: so not much pressure. I let the soap soak a bit then rinse. As for drying, I wipe it down with a cloth then applied Ice polish. The next time, it cleans nicely. BTW, when in Sedona last week, I came out to get something from the frunk at the hotel and on the lid a spider was climbing up to the windshield. I think it knew what it was doing. But alas, no little spiders yet.

Ice also

i also use Ice it is made i believe by turtle wax, I use the soap version and mix with water in a bucket apply it with a sponge works wonders on bugs and road grime then rinse with hose and chamois. Great stuff

:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: Spyder doesn't need any soap or polish does it Seth
I believe that should be "Soap, we don't need no stinkin' soap." :lecturef_smilie: (We might but our Spyders don't).:roflblack:

I use a product called S100. Just spray on and hose off. You'll find it at cycle shops. I also use Plexus to give a good shine, it's made for most any type plastic. But, use what works for you, there are many products out there.

I have never used water on any part of a motorcycle, other than the windshield, in 40 years of riding - but then, I don't live in an area where salt is an issue.

I use WD40, Honda Cleaner/Wax/Plexus (as appropriate) after every ride, and at every overnight stop on a tour. Every quarter, I field-strip the bike, and clean it inside and out. I really hate working on dirty bikes, and I like working on (my) bikes…. JMHO

Spyders in the Redwoods - August 2 - 4, 2011 (Eureka, CA) - We'll be there... will YOU?

Use the product that most of NASCAR uses...it holds up to 1200 degrees, unlike normal carnuba that will break down in the sun on a moderately hot day.

Geoff Bodine's Waxing Frenzy...they have a spray/quick wax that is amazing too.

This product is also a boating product under a different label, so you can be assured that it will hold up...you can get either product as they are both the same (as far as I can tell).

I've used probably most everything on the market on my bike and cars...nothing even comes close to touching the Waxing Frenzy. The stuff stays on the vehicle for a loooong time...

Be careful using that stuff. Your Spyder dps will fail, causing your Spyder to go into left hand turns only.:-) :-)

Cleaning

Here in central Florida it is love bug season:cus:. Yesterday I ran into a swarm on the highway:mad:my helmet visor was covered in seconds. Cut my ride short and went home. Their little bodies will pock clear coat in days.

I use dish soap and hot water and an old washcloth to get them off, old toothbrush gets the guts out of the grooves. Rinse with clear water.

Fortunately the love bug season is only May and September, don't know why, they mostly like roadways.

S100 Total Cycle Cleaner works great. Just spray it on and hose it off.

I ain't one for hosing off my bike. Being as green as I am, I cannot imagine wasting water rinsing off some dangerous chemical that will likely kill off all the frogs in the world.

Okay, maybe this isn't the reason...but trust me..read about it...Waxing Frenzy is the best...not just my opinion...but it is my opinion...
