• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I too have experienced some "negativity" from other riders. I have a younger brother that lives in Milwaukee. I always go up to his place for the Wisconsin State Fair (a great time if you've never been there). This is in the "inner sactum" of Harley country (Harley is based in Milwaukee) Riding the Spyder around town during the fair you get a lot of looks, mostly positive, but there is always that element that snickers or looks down at you. Often you can see them motioning at you and talking and laughing amongst themselves. But they are far and away in the minority. As they say, "Small minds lead small lives". Life is too short to give that element a second thought, just enjoy the ride.:ohyea:

Haters are haters and you'll never change them. Pity them and move on.

Sheesh! I've been dissed while riding my HD. nojoke

:agree: Yazz, regardless of what you ride or who you are, there is someone who will decide they don't like it or they don't like you. Ignore them, shrug it off and enjoy what you ride. Ride your Spyder for yourself not for others.

when gas first went out of sight twenty years ago and it was all over the news, and long lines were forming. i was fueling my "FLEETWOOD CADALAC BRAUM CONVERTABLE" a beatle next to me said when are you going to get with the proagram? answer-- that would mean i woud have to give up my very sucessful dealership.

I ran into several people that were negative about the Spyder - usually Harley types or in beat up vehicles - one that really sticks out in my mind - I was crossing a bridge over the American River on back roads and this guy coming the other way rolls down his window puts his hand out with a thumbs down and yells "pussy" as I go by...........it actually struck my as funny and I had a good laugh - but, there are folks out there that have very negative feelings towards reverse trikes - just like how much love em, they hate em. No biggie!

I think what he meant is

All the chicks love that machine and want to have sex with you and everybody knows these are WAY cooler and EVOLVED from the other bikes on the road:clap:

Spyders rock. haters gonna hate. dont sweat it.:2thumbs:

Couldn't have said it any better!

I went on a HOG ryde through my local H-D dealership a couple of months ago, and, in all good humor, when I went to get on my RT-S one of the guys standing next to me yelled out "Hey! Everybody turn away so you don't look up his skirt!" Now this was said all in good clean fun - not out of meanness, so no harm done. I can participate in a good joke with the best of them:roflblack:.....but what that dude did to you was out of sheer stupidity. :lecturef_smilie: I'd have laughed at him and driven on. The world if full of idiots and occasionally we run across a couple. RYDE ON, my friend, and be PROUD of your :spyder2:!!!

So what do they say about a Harley trike? Is it about the number of wheels or the make?:dontknow:

From my experience, it's the number of wheels. Three is only for people that can't ride two, even if it's a Harley.

I was at Kickstand Lodge last year and ran into a nice lady that lost her left leg in a motorcycle accident. I told her that if she wanted to ride again, the Spyder came in a "semi-auto" mode, so she didn't need to foot shift. I asked if she wanted to sit on my Spyder to check it out, but she politely declined because it wasn't a Harley.

Sometimes I just don't get it.

ETA: I was taking a ride back from Ohio's Amish country last year and found myself between a bike with a sidecar and a standard trike. What are the odds that three random guys on each type of three-wheeled bike would all meet on a rural road? It was very cool to fall into formation with them while riding the Ohio countryside.

Here's my take ( If it helps in any way):

I dont own a Spyder, but do ride Motorcycles. It has always been difficult for me to explain to people who dont ride motorcycles just how exhilerating it could be. Most people cant get past the fact that they just would not feel safe and comfortable on two wheels.

If anything, I think the Spyder has allowed many people who have been curious and afraid about riding two wheels to enjoy the freedom and thrill of motorcycle riding while benefiting from the safety and stability that the Spyder offers.

I think it has helped close the gap and I am happy that more people are getting to feel what I feel when I slip on my helmet, zip up my jacket, and hit the road on my bike. You simply can beat it.

We had a kid, working at a fast food joint, call our Spyder a "mean senior citizen wheelchair". Killerbee asked him if he wanted to put the Spyder next to his motorcycle and then tell him about the wheelchair :2thumbs: and he backed off real quick.

Having a battle of wits with an unarmed person is pointless and not worth your time. You just have to let that kind of thing go. After all, putting your freedom at risk behind a loser like that is unacceptable.

Life is too short; you don't need the grief! :D

Meh. I got razzed by non-riders when I rode a bike. I got razzed by the sportbike guys when I rode a cruiser. I got razzed by the Harley guys when I rode a Japanese cruiser. I got razzed by the Harley guys when I rode a Harley in full protective gear. I got razzed by everyone when I wouldn't drink while riding. I got razzed by everyone when I rode a BMW. I got razzed by the sportbike guys when I rode a dual-sport (oddly, the Harley guys liked that one - LOL).

I suppose those folks wonder why I stopped riding with them.......now I ride only by myself, with hubby, or with a small group of select friends who think more like I do. They can say whatever the hell they want about my :spyder2:. I figure they're just jealous. :2thumbs:

Teddy said it all...or should I say.. expressed our sentiments well :2thumbs:

My theory in life ( not a hater )... be kind to your friends , and kill your enemies with kindness ( someone said similar ). Most don't know how to take it. ;)

Never argue with a fool.

My dad always told me, "Son, never argue with a fool because people may not know who's who."
It's a shame that some people are negative but that is how it is. I'm gonna focus on the positive and enjoy whatever I am riding.
