Ordered the Clutch assist kit from BRP

So I had the clutch assist mod completed today. Decided to let the dealer install it. Since I am working on my Yamaha R1 and R6 getting them ready for the season, I knew I wouldn't have time to work on this...even though I knew they charged $220.00 to install it. Rode it home (about 25 miles) in stop and go highway rush hour traffic and I could IMMEDIATELY notice the difference!

When I got home, I had wifey try it out to see if she noticed any difference. However, I DID NOT start it up when I had her sit on it and try it. Poor thing...you could see the look of disappointment in her face, as she squeezed it, that she wanted to say "You spent how much on this mod?!?! I don't notice ANY difference at all!" After feeling sorry for her, I finally had her start it...BIG SMILE!!! Seeing the that look in her face actually made the parts/labor cost worth it!

This weekend she will really get to try it out on the road.

Thanks for all the help

Just wondering, does this mod make it more prone to fail in the long run (more parts to break down)? Or will failure of the modded parts just return the clutch to stock feel? I'm all for simple and the stock clutch doesn't bother me most of the time; but when stuck in bad traffic, it really does give my hand a bit of pain/discomfort. Considering getting this done, if there are no drawbacks besides the obvious time/money investment, which in itself is not terribly huge.

Stopped at dealer and he printed the Parts and instructions- Parts are $158.88. Instructions say 1 1/4 Hour labor but could be more?
I told dealer I complained to BRP rep and that he said the dealer should submit a request for exception to help pay parts OR labor.
The Dealer (Long time friend) will do this for me before He orders the parts to do the job so I will have a good idea of the cost before he orders the parts.
Its Gotta get done. Most of my driving is back roads with Multiple shifts and the stock clutch pull just does not cut it!!!
Because they changed this for the 2016 model may help get a little assistance from BRP IF your dealer will go to bat for you?

Did your dealer get anywhere to help with the cost? I find that when I sit at a light if I shift to neutral that it helps a lot.

He is working with BRP. Am having it installed next week- Will report on cost after install.:dontknow:

Got the clutch assist installed this week and I does make a nice difference.

Glad I found this thread and glad I got it done.

Took my tech about 2 hours and somewhat to install.

Installation guidance please

Howdy,

Got all the parts and did the installation today. A couple of items I noticed and also need some guidance. First they had me order four small clamps and two larger clamps. I don't see how I can use the two larger clamps since all the hoses in play are the same size (small). Thoughts? Second, the install instructions don't clearly state which way the valve is installed. I installed it with the arrow point towards the intake plenum. Anyone suggest otherwise? Hard to tell from the pictures but I'm beginning to believe I may have it backwards. Lastly, I cannot find the mounting points for the screws to mount the solenoid. The pictures don't seem right to me. Anyone have any ideas or better pictures on where I mount the solenoid?

A few tight spots to get my hands in and poor instructions. Has taken me at least two hours to get to this point - solenoid not mounted; missing some clamps; unsure of orientation of valve.

Help is appreciated!

I did this project on my wife's F3 a while ago , so I don't remember all the details. I do remember that I gave up on trying to use screws to mount the solenoid and just zip tied it securely to something. I don't recall which way the valve goes, but it was counter-intuitive and I had to reverse my original decision to get the assist to work.. In the end, she loves the clutch mod, though.

My 2016 F3S SM6 has a super heavy clutch lever too.

I would like to buy and install this kit.

However, I can't find anyone who sells it...

I bought them last night, but my seller don't have a colour painter so I will have black and white only.

Will that be a problem?

Thanks for the parts list!
Now if I can just get a hold of the color install sheet I'll get this going.
I'll take detailed photos and post a full install thread when I do mine.

I had installed the clutch assist kit today, what a difference!!!

This is what you get in the kit, two hoses, two valves, and few hose lockers.

Can't understand why this isn't a standard system on our F3 SM6?

Without the system the lever is a super hard pull, even harder than my MT01 1700cc.

With the clutch assist kit, the pull becomes a 600cc sport bike, very happy with it.

But I still miss my KTM 690's clutch lever with its super light pull!

Thanks for Bruce B's help!!!

CAN AM Spyder F3S Clutch assist

Updated my 2015 CAN AM F3S with the vacuum assist for the clutch. It is a very noticeable difference in the pull required. I’ve had a few times when stuck in traffic when my hand would hurt from having to keep the clutch level pulled in. I like change the mod has made.
