• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hello everyone,
DougT here. I test rode a Spyder a few weeks ago. Yesterday I took delivery of my new '08. It has the manual transmission, and I'm learning to ride it after 30+ years of riding motorcycles. I really like it. I traded in all three of my street bikes to get it. My wife doesn't yet believe that the Spyder will keep me happy. After riding the Spyder, I may never go back to two wheels. I realize that it's going to take me some time to learn to ride the Spyder well, but I'm patient and willing to endure the learning curve. I think the Spyder is a wonderfully put together machine, and exudes quality. I'm already getting people coming up to me to see it and ask questions. This is a great Forum, and I'm hoping to meet up with some of you folks in the near future. I live near Six Flags Magic Mountain in the Santa Clarita Valley (Southern California), so if any of you care to contact me please feel free to do so. Take care.

You are gonna love the Spyder - start saving, there are so many mods to make it yours.....and better! Congrats and welcome :2thumbs:

:congrats:welcome You have found the best forum - with many experienced Spyder owners, who are here to help.

Always room for one more . . . . .

welcome

Lets see, SIX wheels for THREE. Nice math!

You will get to know one of the members, Scotty ( or NancysToy ), given your math he could probably be the proud owner of a fleet of 27 Spyders.

You have some great rides ahead, enjoy.

Tom

welcome 50+ years of riding here, and 22 two-wheelers in the garage. I love the Spyder, and adapted to it quickly. I'm sure you will, too. Biggest things to know are:

1. Increase front tire air pressure for more stable cornering, and set up shock preload if needed. If it feels stable you will feel more comfortable.
2. Lean into the corner with your body or shift your weight into the turn. Difficult to slide on the seat for some, so try to "kiss" your knuckles on the hand inside the turn.
3. Relax your grip! Hard to learn but really helps at high speed. let the Spyder do the work.

Most of all, enjoy the ryde!

welcome I agree with Nancys Toy. I rode 2 wheels for 41 years it will not take you long to adapt. You will start loving it even before that:thumbup:

WHAT???!!! :yikes: :yikes: :yikes:

Since I've seen you in person and I have to ask...are you sure you have really been riding since you were TWO YEARS OLD???!!! :D

It took me a good two hundred miles to fully get used to the handling and I love every minute of it. Bought my red 2009 2 weeks ago and just passed 900 miles on the odometer.
