• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

after market windshield

does anybody have any experience with the windshield that is sold by Ceebaileys.com.

I do not own a Cee Baileys, but this company has an excellent reputation in the motorcycle industry.
I bought a 22" Calsci, which I really like.

welcome Sorry, don't know about Cee Baileys on the :spyder2:. My local dealer sells them but don't think he sells very many. lots of other choices though. Enjoy your :spyder2:.

As many of us have found - the ability to adjust your windshield is VERY important. I've got a collection of non-adjustable ones - hundreds of wasted dollars.

There's only two adjustable units on the market right now:

1. F1 Slider

2. CHAD

I don't care for the F1's and think the slider could be very dangerous in an accident. Poor design with two metal bars pointing at your chest.

The CHAD uses a proven design and went through testing to make sure everything is DOT approved (not just the shield part). I'm obviously a CHAD fan - and the fact the no-magic neon sells them just makes it a WIN-WIN. Never heard of someone who didn't like the CHAD.

My advice, spend the extra $$$ and get an adjustable shield.

CHAD is a great windshield marketed by a fine company.
That having been said one major item that you can't at present do.
Adjust it on the fly.
Why I have the F1 Slider and will probably get the Queen slider.
Either will adjust with one hand as you go from city to freeway.
I find as it gets hotter this is a real benny - below 45 mph I leave it full down. Then as I speed up I raze it either so that the wind just hits the vents on my helmet or up blocking most of the wind.

Mike ;)

And do you think it's a safe thing to be messing with while going down the road? Seems the maker could be in for a lawsuit if they are promoting adjusting it on the fly.

As many gadgets that I have seen bolted to the Spyders handlebars around here, adjusting a windshield should be a cakewalk.:)

I agree with ARACHNID.I have the EVo III slider. I just ordered the Queen slider from Marcel. Unlike this forum. He has agreed to let me offer discounts on riding gear to Spyder riders without charging me $500 to mention my company name.:doorag:

Quality items like the Garmin have specific instructions NOT to adjust them while riding - in fact the Garmin has a warning screen that pops up every time you turn it on with a disclaimer. If they were to say it was 'okay' to do that and you get into a wreck while doing it - they are gonna get sued.

If Marcel is promoting the 'adjust while riding' feature, he is asking for trouble - then again - considering how poorly he runs his business(in my opinion) - it doesn't shock me. I've also never seen any proof that his shields or mounts are DOT approved. My CHAD and GIVI have stamped numbers on them as proof.

I don't think it's any secret that I'm not a Marcel fan. He screwed me out of money and flat out lied. Do some research online and you'll find he tends to move from bike to bike until enough people are fed up with him. Check out some of the scooter forums sometime.

Safety is # 1 - and I don't think the slider mounts would be safe in an accident, nor do I think adjusting on the fly is safe.

"I" promote adjusting it as needed as you drive. Not F1. 98% of the time I do it at a light or when stopped but can and have done it at 50 mph on a on-ramp.
Everyone has his own preferences and offer here advice as to what he or she does. When something works I talk about it here. If it doesn’t work I let it go.
Bad mouthing a product or company just doesn’t work for me.

CHAD, CalSci, F1, Givi, Corbin, all offer great products which are the favorites of other individuals here.

I say go with what works for you.

I will offer this:
Marcel July has contributed and continues to contribute innovative and creative products at a reasonable price for the Spyder I for one appreciate this. The more nifty stuff out there the more there is to pick from. If he makes a mistake sometimes, well so do I. Be thankful and appreciative of those few creative individuals who contribute product for the Spyder. They all ad to the experience.
End of rant.

And how's that working out for you Bob? You were doing more than just mentioning your company name, you were doing direct sales.

I'm sorry that you feel you are special and think that $500 for the year is too much to pay for a banner ad here but maybe you should talk to the other vendors first and see if it was worth it for them. That's $41 bucks a month for a small banner and the right to "mention" your company, most of the vendors opted for a bigger ad and I have yet to hear any of them complain. Try marketing your goods on a real site like SpyderTalk and see how long that last. If you want to play the internet marketing game you need to manup and take a chance that it may or may not work for you. Try running a free ad in one of your favorite motorcycle magazines or maybe Google. Oh that's right, that cost money too.

Sooooo, someone else should pay for YOUR marketing costs????:roflblack:

It never ceases to amaze me that a vendor thinks that the internet is their free marketing tool and all these message boards are just another free tool for them. I wonder if they would have a problem with me setting up a tent in their parking lot and selling my products there for free. :sour:

:agree: It's one thing to sell a few of your own personal goods using the classified section of this or any other forum, but if you are running a commercial business, you cannot expect to do it for free on the backs of the forum administrator and those companies that ARE willing to pay for advertising.

This is an interesting topic...I agree that if someone wants to sell their wares here, he/she should abide by the rules of all the other merchants. The exposure here is great and $500 is not a ridiculous amount of money...

I do have a question for you though...Motza and I are talking with the owner of impactjackets about perhaps getting a group of people together to get a discount. Neither Motz nor I will personally profit from this. We think an airbag jacket is a good idea and because they cost so much, we figure power in numbers is important.

I'm hoping you don't mind if we try to get a group together? Also, I will talk with the owner, Charles, about becoming a sponsor here. He is traveling around but we are supposed to meet in Silver Spring, MD (my neck of the woods) in early July.

Is this all okay with you? Oh, if it's not, please blame Motza and his oval head...:D:D

Thanks...
