Default New Windshield Vent Cut Outs On 2021 Why?

Picture with vent cut outs on my 2018 2” v 6” cut outs on 2021. Why did BRP move the windshield cut out vents on 2021 RT.

I don't know why they did it but they weren't thinking - especially for a company located in a cold environment! At 45 degrees the air blasts thru there and freezes the rider. It's like not having a windshield at all in the cold. I took it off and installed the optional windshield with adjustable vents. Now the bike is almost perfect (except for BRP Connect.)

The can-am e-support site is a computer based web site and can not answer questions or I could not get it to answer my question only refer me to a preprogrammed data base.

I'll bet they realized the vents were doing nothing to reduce the vacuum behind the windshield so raised them for better venting.

Still don't understand why the op doesn't contact Can Am ? Their info is in the owners manual. There isn't a soul on this board that can answer the question unless said person is in the design engineering dept that is charged with windshield design.

So, you're happy with the venting they provide then?

Yes...in Texas we are happy for any air movement in the cockpit!
In fact i have purchased the adjustable air deflectors for this bike... waiting on the first 3000 mile service to have the dealer install them. Our ride this morning put me up to 2300 miles on the clock...would have been a lot more but we have been enveloped in a phenomenal monsoon season here for the past month.. only very short rides between rain storms. FINALLY...sunshine and no rain!

Our F3L's came with the vent holes in the windshield. After riding my 2019 version since 12/19, I am happy with it. Feel I need to make no changes.

Currently Owned: 2019 F3 Limited, 2020 F3 Limited: SOLD BOTH LIMITEDS in October of 2023.

    Previously : 2008 GS-SM5 (silver), 2009 RS-SE5 (red), 2010 RT-S Premier Editon #474 (black) 2011 RT A&C SE5 (magnesium) 2014 RTS-SE6 (yellow)

MY FINAL TALLY: 7 Spyders, 15 years, 205,500 miles

It wasn’t that the rain hits you coming through the vents.... it was the swollen creeks with the high water over the low water crossings...lots of that here in the Texas Hill Country.

You do realize they serve a purpose. They prevent a vacuum from forming behind the screen. If they are covered, all the crap that is air born will come right around the backside of the screen. Take a good look at some of the Harley screens on the FLH's. There are deceased bugs on the inside of the screens. The vents also help keep the screen de misted. The air flow acts like the defogger in a car.

Yes, that's why mine are open and the newer design is superior vs the older design, sounds like the OP doesn't like it where they are for what ever reason. Cover them up and then he can feel the difference. My 2018 would suck in the exhaust to the point Id have to lower the screen to wash out the riders compartment.(Just some times with the fumes) (not good designing on BRP's part)

I'm sure you cover the openings and you'll get your head buffeted by the choppy air flow due to a vacuum effect behind the wind screen-2018 was terrible at highway speeds.

I will put good money on the fact that it was windtunnel designed and tested.

Yeah, I don't know about superior design. I have the optional tall windshield. There is no discernable difference with the vents open/closed except the air moves thru the cockpit with it open.
