    Default Road Trip!

I'm Heading to Huntsville, AL this morning about 8:30am or 9:00am. Going to visit my aunt, my mom's last living sister. First time I have taken this long a trip on the . In a way this will also be a test for me and my stamina (or lack thereof!!). Huntsville is close to halfway to Springfield. I figure if I can do this in 12 hrs or less then maybe next year (God willing and the creek don't rise and we have the $$$!) then the hubby (Tobor 9) and I can go Spyderfest. I'm taking this trip by myself. I've done it before in a cage but not on the bike. Hubby of course will be worrying about me the whole time I'm gone but I'm taking interstate all the way. After I get there I will let him know and will let you all know how long it took me. Wish me luck and if you see a 2014 Black Currant RT Limited driven by a rather large lady wearing a Betty Boop riding jacket give me a wave!!!

I hope you have great weather and a nice ride. Even though it is cold out don't forget to drink water when you stop, you can still get dehydrated. Have a great trip and let us know how it goes.

    Default Have a good one..!!

Nice trip and with good rest stops you will do fine and have a great practice run. Enjoy the visit...if you and hubby want to track your progress there is a great app "Follow Mee" that the homebound person can see your progress by tracking your phone. We use it when I tavel alone..

    Default Hint

Your going to have a blast but a few things to consider just to be safe. If it's twelve hours in a car expect it to be a good 14hrs on your Spyder. Stopping frequently for gas will slow you down for sure. MY ST gets about 160 mile per tank and then it's do or die. Know where your next gas station is at all times. Sometimes stopping and refilling on a half tank is required if the next station is too far away. On road trips, I always carry a small gas container in my Frunk, when I went through Oregon and Wyoming gas stations are far and few in-between. Kind of Scary when fuel starts getting low. My cloths and stuff I strapped to the passenger seat in a duffel bag using ratchet straps. You may have saddle compartments or a trailer if so it's much easier I'm sure. One day I'll have the trailer. Tire pressure and top off fluids. Have fun and get ready to wave a lot to passing cars, trucks etc.

Well, we are hoping to do the same ride in the opposite direction. My wife's niece and her family live there and we are hoping to visit them on the Spyder. I think I will wait for a little warmer weather though.

    Default Road Trip!

Have to give a personal confession...

Once you start riding by yourself, you get to start and stop when you want, you get to watch what you want on TV at night, riding by yourself is a soul cleansing experience.

Beware, it's addictive. Now that Hubby's retired, it's a bit harder to figure out why he has to stay home.

Relax, take your time and enjoy the ride.
