    Default Won't Down Shift Automatically

Wife's 2009 RS S5 sometimes will come to a stop without automatically downshifting into 1st gear. While she's waiting at a stop light it will gradually work its way down to first gear. It does down shift manually.

Any thoughts on what's wrong? Thanks.

    Default Little checking..!!

these machines are very oil sensative. Your having the auto clutch makes it even more so. Check oil level as indicated in the manual. Make sure you change oil and both filters at appropriate intervals. If this does not help you may have to dig deeper may need adjustments the dealer would have to make...

If not oil, possibly leaking vac hoses on left side. Theres been several threads about this.

as they said oil level must be at the top or it wont shift right, the oil is what makes the shifts so if loe just a little it wont work right.

That is not exactly true. Low oil will cause shifting problems without a doubt, but it has to be very low. As long as it is above the add line on the dipstick it is fine.

Check the shifter lever just under the bottom left side tupperware. In front of the foot peg. It could be loose and trying fall off.

Thanks a lot all. I'm on vacation for a few weeks and will look into this again when I return.
