Is it in neutral? If not step on brake and try again.

Check to make sure kill switch is not in stop position, make sure it is in natural, put foot on brake and try to
Start

Little checking..!!
when was the last time you started it..??
It's in neutral..check
Your foot is on the brake..check
Your kill switch is run position.. Check
You pressed the mode button to clear the screen..
You pressed the starter button..ckeck..does it click..?? Does it turn over..??
Try to jump start it..if it starts then your battery needs help.

Will try to jump start it tomorrow. I have to figure out how to do that first. Don't have anybody around who can help me. But I do have jumper cables.
When I press the start button the only thing that happens is the gauge cluster lights up then it goes off and the only thing lit up is the oil can icon but does not start.
Last time I started it was two and a half weeks ago.

Oil can light
The oil can light illuminates when you turn the ignition on.
Sounds very much like you have a flat battery. you have a couple of options:
Jump start
Charge battery
Check battery connections
Hope you get it sorted.

+1
Takes little voltage to lite the cluster but a lot of voltage to crank the bike , half to start with the basics first.

Can I jump start my battery with my car?

Yes that is what the jumpstart points are designed for. If you have a 2012 or older the jumpstart posts are under the seat. If you have a 2013 or 2014 you have to open the front trunk and then remove the left access panel.
The instructions are in your owners manual.

Yes I have the 2012. I got it jump started and it started right up. Let it run for awhile before I turned it off.

Very good, I would go to one of the auto box stores and have the battery and charging system out

How much oil did you add? Not using the correct sequence to check the oil will give VERY inaccurate readings...

good point, and you're supposed to add and check oil after engine has been running!! if you added it cold engine, most likely too much was put in!
