We have done it many times in the past, but not going this year.

I live in MD...have gone a couple of times...one time rode in the parade, the other parked along the river and walked around...by far, the better year was the second one...standing around in the parking lots for hours on end in the heat is not much fun.
Unless you're in the first group, most on the parade route start leaving...
It's fun to do but better to be there as a spectator than ride the parade route, IMHO...

Riding but not on a Spyder
I'm riding in the parade for first time on my Honda Sabre 1300. Wish I had a Spyder, just not there yet.

Get there are early as you can...the lots fill based on the time you get there...if you get there late, you'll sit until 2pm....it's not fun...
If you get there really early and are one of the first lots out, you'll have a great time...either way, you'll meet tons of people.

I had posted this back on the 19th when one of the groups passed through Kansas.

Finally!
Well this is finally the year. There are no other planned activities this year. We've even put off going camping which is something we usually do every Memorial Day weekend. The Rolling Thunder ride is on our calendar and we are going to meet up with a guy I work with and head to downtown D.C. early in the morning. We'll try to hit the Pentagon parking lot as soon as it is open.
I'm sure we'll see other Spyders there. Who else from SL is going to be there?

hoping to join this year
hopefully work will grant my day off request. as I just came back from 10 days off to goto spyderfest. If I get it off the wife and I will be coming on our spyders. should be a group out of central PA going down this year.

They also do that in Vermont, and I have been on the rides, You got to pay attention, it is dangerous with all those bikes. We have police escorts when it happens .

I was in place to cheer the Run For The Wall people today. They started in Rancho Cucamonga this morning. One group (the Midway group) went through Barstow to Ludlow 60 miles down the road. The Central group stopped in Lenwood outside of Barstow to top off. These people are on a 10 day cross country mission which will join the Rolling Thunder group. There were at least 3 Spyders in the second group. The first group was smaller and I think I saw one. I don't know about the Southern group. BTW, not all participants make the 2300+ mi trip. Some go for just a day and come back. But this is an important thing people. If they are coming near your town, come out and cheer them on with flags, etc. This is huge to them. Go to rftw.org to check the itineraries. and maybe their is some other way you can help.

Let's Roll
I'll be there, as I have been every year since 1999. However, I'm staying on the sidelines this year. I'll be sure to give all you ryders a special wave as you pass by!

I rode in it once.
My wife and I rode to D.C. in 2010 on a 2007 Yamaha Roadliner. We rode in the parade and yes it was hot that year. Killing time in the hot Pentagon parking lot for three and a half hours was a drag but the rest of the experience was wonderful. We haven't been there since and due to some family issues it won't be happening this year either. Someday there will be another ride down there, just not sure as to when it will be.

I go...
I go, not in the parade but i have gone every year since moving to NVA, 2007 to current. Never really looked for the spyders out there. Then again this is my first year with the spyder.

Two days till Rolling Thunder. I've seen several hundred bikes and a few Spyders coming into the DC area this week just during my daily commute.. Tomorrow I wash and wax the RT Limited, then put on the new flags and I'll be ready. Rolling out at 5:45 AM Sunday to meet up with a friend of mine. Plan on making a full day of it down on the DC mall after the ride through.
