I have decided to get the Sena SM10 bluetooth dongle and make my own cable. I have bought a stereo extension cord and will cut one end off. Ordered a 12V to 5V micro usb cable because I have decided to rig it to stay on all the time. The problem I am having is with the radio connector plug. See my shopping cart below. mouser.jpg
I have 2 questions.
1 Are these the right parts?
2 Can I get these parts cheaper? The price on everything is OK except for the connector pins at $0.35 and a minimum order of 100.
I have made about 5 cables for people now. This is the Email I send them on what to order.
Also if you don't want to use silicon seal to close up the backend of the connector then you need to order the plugs. I do not know if you can get them from Mouser.
Finally we need the USB power cord. But there is an option. You can also just use the supplied Sena USB cable for power and plug it in the trunk cig lighter. This keeps it powered up all the time so if you forget to turn it off, the battery in the Sena won’t go dead. It draws very little power and won’t kill your Spyder battery for over a week or more.

This is the video I made for people that I made cables for. I used silicon seal to close up the connector and make it water proof.

Thanks, the connector pins where the problem. The part number for that pin does not go with that connector plug but if people are using them and they work I am not going to argue. I placed my order.

The pins work but are not as strong as the BRP pins so don't yank on the cable.
Also a tip. Strip the cover off the audio cable to expose the 3 wires so they are long enough! Those pins go very deep into that connector and when you first push them in you get the idea they are in far enough. My first cables I made using that connector I did not have the pins in far enough and they did not work e.g. they did not connect.
Also there is a small set of crimp tabs in the middle, you need to close those or the pins may hang up going in the connector.
So the audio cable was not back ordered? One guy that tried ordering last week said it was out of stock till March. You need the right sized 3.5mm male jack (the hood diameter) or it wont fit in the SM10 audio in jack without carving it to make it a smaller diameter.

No they don't have the audio cable, still out of stock, but I already have one. I bought a 8 foot stereo extension cord and will cut one end off. If I have to do some trimming thats OK. It was only $2.00
I also order a couple 12V to 5V usb power cords last week from another source so I don't have to use the 12V socket.

Hi Dave. Yes I know I saved you a sale
One of the guys that bought the SM10 from you was upset that it didn't work and was going to return it. So I offered to make him a cable and told him to keep the unit he got from you. I know he came out happy once he got the cable
These parts are all available from BRP Evinrude dealers. This plug is exactly the same as the ECM connector on the E-tec outboard.
I did a little research and it looks like you're right. But the prices are high, 26 pin plug Mouser $10.72 Evinrude $21.50, cavity plugs Mouser $0.06 Evinrude $1.20, connector pins Mouser $0.127 Evinrude $2.47
