Well I for one and my wife also my son and his wife are watching the Elio very close and when they finally hit the market or come to a city near us we are going to look at them and take a demo ride if possible and will not rule them out as a second vehicle. I like the idea and if they even come close to there claims I would buy at least one of them! I bought 2 Spyders when they came out and loved them even with all the problems we had but really got tired of all the maintenance expense and down time we had so I see no difference with an Elio.

There may be a market for the Elio but I think it's gonna be small considering the limited servicing that's gonna be available...Look at how limited the Spyder servicing market is...small considering the amount of money BRP has invested...It takes mega money to launch a new concept vehicle, especially something that's new concept, no track record...etc....I'd like to see it become successful, may even buy one if I get to the point where I feel comfortable with reliability.

If they tour to Seattle I will go see the Elio and make my reservation.

Successfully marketing a new type of road legal vehicle is incredibly difficult. It really makes you appreciate the remarkable engineering, manufacturing, and marketing skills of BRP.
I wish Elio the best of luck, but with the most notable exception of the Spyder, these endeavours almost always fail.

My 90 yr old dad wants to test drive one and really hopes to buy one.

Elio
I drove over to Grand Rapids, MI yesterday to take a peek at the new concept vehicle called the Elio. I was very impressed and I sure hope they pull it off and actually get it to market! Very cool!
They are now taking refundable deposits! I already commited to one non-refundable several months ago and after yesterday, put down a second deposit.

I will wait and see. Let Elio prove themselves right. The people who said negative comemnts hopefully they are all wrong. I still want to see a American company can pull this off. Made in the USA is more important to me than negative comments.

I'm still skeptical about the price, but we'll find out next year. It looks good!

Over the past couple years, the marketing has improved, and the pictures of the vehicle have become much more refined. They have already moved the product roll out up an additional year from when first advertised. If they do that again, I become even more skeptical. The price still seems to good to be true--but I will continue to bite my tongue.

Forget about biting your tongue; let's keep our fingers crossed that it comes to market priced this way!
For that price; I'd even be interested!

I know it said it goes over 100 mph; but, like was said in another thread, how fast does it get there? It has to be able to get into the flow of traffic safely.
Never mind, I just noticed its 0-60 time.

Elio distributor question?
Hi Randy, We plan on having distributors in the top 60 markets. We believe that an Elio customer will be willing to drive 100-150 miles to buy a new Elio since new vehicles are on the average, are purchased every 11 years or so. However, the same customer may not be willing to drive 100-150 miles for service. So, we will have 2000 service locations around the country. That's about the same footprint as Toyota. In a previous post, it was mentioned that we were going to have one distribution and servicing point.. that being Shreveport plant. That is not true. Shreveport will have a distributor though .. and a servicing center.. that only makes sense. Finally, we love to use inbox feature because we can keep track of comments that need to be answered...not because of privacy. As you can imagine, it is very easy to miss answering a comment or two ... three or four..and even more! It isn't by design, we just miss them because of the sheer volume of posts on various threads!
