I have a 2012 RSS.. I installed the big touring windshield from BRP,, Well It makes my head bobble really bad.. So I took it off and installed the stock winshield,, Its a little better but my wife really complained and I would like something better.. I am 6 foot 2 and ride fairly straight ip postion.. Any ideas out there..

I run this some of the time on my OEM shield....it's a Laminar Lip, small (I believe).
It deflects most of the wind up & over the top of my helmet and there is very little buffeting. I'm 6' 5" so it may even work a little better for you.
Oops! Forgot the pic!

I have been through a lot of windshields on RS's. Todays answer for me a is a large BRP touring windhsield and Madstadt bracket to customize the fit so it is just right for my riding style.

How do you install it looks like you drill holes in stock is that correct.

I recently instfalled the Cee Bailey, 23" on my RS. I have been riding for over a year with the stock windshied. The CB worked fine until I increased my speed to 65 or 70. The bobble effect was really bad. I am wondering if I shoud have ordered a shorter (21") It makes me want to put my stock back on the machine. Just wondering, is this bobble head thing a result of a windshield that is to tall??

WINDSHIELDS
I made mine from a gold wing 1500 blank....it's now 24.5 inches tall & 23 in.wide at top & 30 in wide at bottom with 650 sq in coverage....it attaches to the handle bars and is set at a 44 degree angle (rake) . I don't notice any handling or buffeting differences wether the Spyder is going 65 mph or 115 mph.......(not on a public highway)........Mike.............So make your own it was pretty easy and only about $125

No, those are little 3M sticky hook/loop things....or whatever they're called. Kinda like velcro but all hooks.

I believe its not just the height of the screen. You need to eliminate the negative pressure that causes turbulence off the top of the screen. Any screen fixed flush to the Spyder bodywork will tend to do that . This is one of the main reasons the Madstad screen works so well.

For me the answer was a 21" Madstad -and- the BRP side deflectors. The windshield eliminates about 60% of the wind and the side deflectors about another 30%. It took both to do the job.

Call Madstad and talk to the owner, he will set you up with what you need. I too had helmet buffering badly and the Madstad solution resolved it. Look at their web site. There needs to be a space between the windshield and the dash.

I have the Madstad 21" also and I'm 6'1". No buffeting at all.

Madstad, Madstad, Madstad...there is no other option in this discussion...the best shield for any person, hands down. You can go 20, 22, or 24 inches...you can adjust it any which way you want.
Talk with Mark or Patty....they are incredibly helpful...

Thanks I will get a hold of them today

Check out CalSci windshields. They have a hole in them to reduce turbulence.

The UPS guy delivered my Cal Sci windshield today. I took my sport/touring windshield off my 2011 RS-S and pack it away for the winter. I unpacked the windshield and it did not fit due to it was not finished. The sides was loaded with some heavy tool marks and not squared off. Tomorrow I'll waste a day finishing and fitting. But I am going to leave the tool marks and rough edges to show everyone what poor quality work Cal Sci did for me.
On the hazy look. My BRP sport/touring windshield is clearer than the Cal Sci. I knew that before I order my Cal Sci windshield, because it just for winter riding.

This how all the edges look.

MAKE ONE
MAKE YOUR OWN WINDSHIELD....
i bought a $20 piece of Lexan from HOME DEPOT, and with a heat-gun, Skill saw and some time, i came up with this, see pix... i'm 6' 2" and have no issues with bufferting... the little air management 'winglet' (pic #3) at the top took care of that...

People forget full face helmets already have windshields. Adding a windshield on your Spyder is redundant !!!!!!!
