training wheels
when the hardley davidson riders call it a trycycle or training wheels ask them to keep up as you run the highway way above their speed range and be relaxing on your spyder as they catch up down the highway
was running with a Honda goldwing and a hardley a couple weeks ago the Honda and i were clearing the carbon out a few times and had to pull off in a rest stop for a refreshing beverage while the hardley caught up it was funny

Mostly motorcycle with training wheels
I have gotten the training wheels comment before, and it seems to stop after they discuss it with me further, and in some cases-those I trust and have motorcycles of their own have ridden it.
I feel much more secure on the spider for many reasons, and they can call it anything they want.
I also get some calling it "gas guzzler" difficult to argue for "motorcycle like device," however I am quick to point out, that I had owned a 150cc scooter when I wanted economy. This I bought for fun!!

Ive gotten cute, cool, transformer, space ship, UFO (thanks to my lights), and a motorcycle with training wheels. The last pissed me off, but i was too busy consoling my wife about something else to correct them, so I had to just let it go. Priorities you know. Hope my show of willpower was appreciated. I do like what I read in a review somewhere... "a motorcycle for people who don't want to die."

What's in a Name
I actually work in a Harley shop, so I have it parked outside during the work day. I have sooooo many people ask if we sell them, when I tell them it belongs to an employee, (I don't tell all of them it's me cause it turns into a 20 min conversation), they want to know who does sell them. Have had nothing but good comments from co-workers and customers alike. Have had to make up a sign about DO NOT CLIMB OR SIT ON BIKE, because I'll look out and some dude is climbing on it to see how it feels!!!! As far as names go, nobody has come up with anything I care to get angry about.

We call our RTS "Pat" because we picked it up on St. Patricks Day.

name
I mostly get the backwards trike thing. I tell some if they are really old school they could remember somtning called a cushman or a cushman eagle 2 wheeler. If they know about the cushman and what they are then i consider the person with the remarks as knowledgeable and go on. If not then we have a discussion and point of education on being a motorcycle enthusiats. But all in all most people like the looks and the stability of that weird looking thing.

I've been tod I'm riding my trike backwards. Sometimes I'll reply that they build yours backwards. Or sometimes I'll say your riding your Spyder backwards (to a triker) or sometimes, in good humor, I'll advise a 2 wheeled that a wheel fell off their Spyder.

We were in the Huddle House in Robbinsville not that long ago, setting out for the Skyway when our server inquired about who had the Cadillac. Well, thinking conventionally, we pointed at Bob, who has the 2010 Champion 'Wing trike. No, she said the blue one, the one that's backwards. So I suppose a backwards 'Caddy it is. A lot of people have called it a toy, so naturally the price tag comes up, followed by a jaw drop. A quick trip through the twisties anyone?

My wife named our Antidote as it was the bike i could ride with the back/shoulder issue. I am glad that made me try it i find it way more fun.

Had a few nameslots of general ones with questions of course but the one that makes me bite mytongue and put my hands in my pockets is when some one calls it a scooter . WE have what i would call an issue with e-scooters in this city.

what name has folks called your Spyder?
As I was coming out of the Post Office one day, a guy was standing by my bike, and he said "That is quite a "contraption" you have there, I bet if you could get a patent on it, you could sell all of those you could build" I just smiled and said, well I bet so, but I did not build this one. I have had quite a few Harley owners say that they really liked it, also.
