New track times
Season opener with my new slick. I ran a personal best of 8.0 with consistent 8.1's. My best on street tire was an 8.3 with more consistent times of 8.5. What a difference once it hooks up it'll snap your head back. I played around with different rpm launches but my best times came from launching off the rev limiter. It was the only way to keep the rpms up enough in the 60 foot with out bogging it down. For those that raced with a slick, what were you launching at?

We both need to learn from Johny Turbo's pilot (right lane, 1/4 mile, Aruba 2009):

That almost looks like too much fun in too little time...

Never ran the eighth, never ran 1,000 ft. I'm just a fossilized old quarter-miler. Hard for me to translate these times to something I once knew, but it sounds like fun, anyway.

High 4's, Your right no time to think, Hit the traps then before you can think stand on the brakes.
There wasn't very much space to stop at Islip L.I., Especially with drum brakes.
High 4's in the 1/8th? That's putting it down. My buddy Gary ran a 5.97 @ 131mph in the 1/8th on his V8chopper. How fast were you running to get the high 4's?

Some where in the 100/102, MPH, Speed is nice but its the ET's That are better.
With 456 rear's it was completely spent out at the traps in the 1/8, But with a set of ripple walls, There was no loss of traction off the line, That set up was perfect for the 1/8.

I'm surprised that you could get a Big Block to hook up off the line with 4.56 cogs...
High stall speed torque converter [3.5K] Ripple walls, And a heavy dose of clorox.
With a host of other tricks. Mose of them irrelevant in this day and age.

1/4 mile was ok. 1/8 was ok. 100yards, sandrail, 2.88 at 113 mph 2180 VW, chevy rods cut down and 202 intake, 094 exhaust with 100 hp nitros boost. Scared the crap out of me most of the time. But alot of first place finishes. Loved the sand.
