My son Nathan is leaving for Afghanistan tomorrow

My son got there yesterday and posted it on his Facebook page. I showed him this thread and told him we were praying for his safe return. Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers.

I was a combat medic in the Army and my prayers go with your son Nathan. Tell him to remember his training and that he is in the best military the world has ever seen. The men and women will watch each others backs and hopefully they will all come home safely and soon.

Like i said earlier the packages from home made Nam just a little bearable for me and the guys.
Times have changed in 45 years, What i looked to was unsweetened Cool Aid, killed the taste of the Iodine pills we had to put in our canteens'
Jiffy Pop, And Caned tuna to trade with the Montagnards for bananas They wouldn't take C rations.
Oh yea can't for get the home made cookies and stuff.

Lamont, I'm just now seeing this thread. I'll echo the same sentiments that others have already. Please let your son know that there are many of us who thank him (and his mom and dad) for serving our country. May God bless him and keep him safe.
